Dear Marta I need a firming neck cream
Dear Marta, I'm writing because I'm getting a headache trying to decide what firming cream to use. I'm 47 years old, but my neck looks as if it's in its 50s, unfortunately. I'd like to get something that actually works but that I don't have to take out a mortgage to purchase. Would you mind terribly giving me your top 3 firmers under $100? Thank you so very much for your help!
Dear C, I don’t know if it is factually correct that the skin of the neck is thicker than the face. Perhaps it is so often neglected that it is more needy. Anyway, the point that I am trying to make is that I find that I get better results on my neck when I use products that would be too heavy and rich for my face.
The best firming cream that I have found for my neck is SenZen's Infinity. It is a thick cream (too unctuous for my face) but in using on my neck, I have found that it is firming and has greatly improved the texture of my skin. I believe that some other members of the TIA community have had good results using Infinity as their neck cream as well.
However, it is close to your budget limit, so I have come up with some other options for you. A little cheaper is La Vie Celeste's Extra Rich Cream ($75 in the TIA shop). Like Infinity, this also has an ingredient called ChroNoline (caprooyl tetrapeptide-3), is derived from a growth factor, namely TGF-ß and it stimulates production of laminin 5 (as well as collagen VII), helping support the structure of the skin.
In the spirit of using rich night creams as neck creams, there is April Rain's Night Cream. Worth taking a look at because there is a good deal on this right now ( $129 ). It has collagen boosting tripeptide-10 citrulline.
For the budget conscious, then topping up your usual facial moisturizer or serum with an affordable but good body lotion can help. I suggest Zinn's body lotion. It is certainly a good skin smoother and at $25 (in the TIA shop) is great value. The other option is to alternate it with one of my more expensive suggestions.
I’d love to hear about other great neck firmers from readers, so please pile on.

Hi C,
I know what you're going through re the concern with the skin on one's neck. I went through the same thing last year, and also asked Marta for help.
Based on Marta's suggestions, I implemented a routine:
an exfoliant once (or possibly twice a week in the warmer months), a rich cream (although this is not always great in summer), and then alternating the use of a peptide serum or a neck cream instead of the heavy cream. The final step is using the Sirius Red LED light on my decollete.
For exfoliation, I'm having the most luck with Lumixyl GlycoPeel 20 Rapid Exfoliating Lotion, although the La Vie Celeste Restorative Exfoliating Gel Mask is quite effective too.
For the heavy cream, I also use the SenZen Infinity but not every night. I alternate it with Osmotics Necollete (which I also reviewed for Truth In aging), or Glo Therapeutics super serum, and Pomega5 healing cream.
On occasion I have also used the Tilvee Argan Vitality Oil too.
When I use the Red LED, I also use a peptide lotion- typically the Glo Therapeutics Super serum.
Sadly, the cost of these helpers is above $100 when combined but I have had solid results with my regimen.

Thank you Stephanie - I think I need to get Glo Therapeutics back on my radar.

Marta,
I find that when recommendations are being given for neck creams, most people seem to be focusing on texture and hydration and I don't have these problems. My skin on my neck and chest is as smooth and soft and silky fine as can be...no sun spots, no redness, no roughness. Instead it's thin. REALLY thin. And loose. It's about the texture of the skin right under my eyes, so exfoliation of any kind scares me. And it feels moist enough. It just sags terribly right under my chin and part way down my neck. The skin is very crepey and has lost it's tone. I've noticed some neck creams are designed to reduce some of the fat under the skin, to alleviate double chins I would assume, but since my skin is so loose that would only make matters worse. I truly need maximum tightening and strengthening ... moisture is not an issue and money is no object. So what is the one thing of the many products you've tried that you think would best accomplish this?

Hi Susan, there are a few things that could help. Try to find a good local esthetician who does microcurrent treatments - these are non-invasive and they tighten muscles and boost collagen. Skin tightening creams that have caffeine and Argiline can also help. But you really need a topical that is going to help rebuild elastin. Osmotics Necollete has good results and it uses an ingredient called Essenskin. This was designed for sagging neck skin. You can read more on Essenskin. Another product that is gives good results is Hydropeptide's PowerLift.

Marta,
Thanks so much for your input. The Necollete
is next on my list to purchase, and thank you for the info regarding micro-currents. I'm definitely going to look into that. If any TIAers have a recommendation of someone in Los Angeles that offers this, please let me know!

Does any other TIAer have an issue with SenZen's Infinity pilling on their neck?
I value this product and I can actually see the improvement it has made on my neck skin, but I am mystified as to why it pills. Having a serum present or bare skin does not make a difference.
Thanks for any feedback.

Hi Susan, I don't have that problem at all - I use it every day on my neck on bare skin. Is it possible that you are using too much?

Marta,
Using too much is a possibility. I've wondered this myself. I will cut in half my traditional use and see how it goes. Thanks.
