Do you want to make your own antiaging cosmetics

When I posted on a homemade face mask using parsley based on a recipe from Ildi my esthetician, there was a great response (rightly so, this is one face tightener). One of the readers who tried it was none other than the founder of Your Best Face, who wrote to me to tell me he enjoyed improvising by adding in the odd antiaging ingredient, such as spin trap. We got to chatting about how cool it would be to able to provide kits of pure ingredients, to which people could raid the refrigerator and add in their own papaya, or parsley, or whatever.

Our day jobs got in the way of us doing much about this, but now I am thrilled that Your Best Face is going to work with Truth In Aging to create do it yourself kits that will be available in our store and allow our community to unleash their inner mad scientist and make their own cosmetics.

We know by the run we had on the pots of vitamin C that we once gave away, that vitamin essentials are probably on your wish list. What we also need to know is whether you'd like to make serums, masks whatever? Would you like them to graded by ease of use? And what kinds of quantities - enough for one product, or do you think you'd like a pack that's big enough to make gifts for your friends?

  • Serums, masks, creams, all of the above...and more than one serving since my hubby and bff seem to confiscate my favorite products. This would be awesome. It makes me think of the masks they sell at LUSH, except we get to have our own concoction! I'm so excited!!!

What a great idea! I love using fresh ingredients to make skin treatments. Mixing fruits, yogurt/milk, teas, herbs, and special anti-aging ingredients sounds wonderful. Making masks is really great, because you make just enough for that treatment, so you know it's super fresh. But I would love to experiment with other things as well.

Facial Soaps, Scrubs, Shower Gels, Masks & Vitamin C Serums. Soaps & Gels could be made in larger batch's (lower rot factor?). Masks & C Serums in smaller (C is unstable anyways). I would love to buy some eyeliss neat (can't find it anywhere) to boost eyecreams. Otherwise, serious anti-aging armour is best forged by the experts in my opinion. I don't think we can whip up anything from our frig that's better than cellbone hyper peptides, define, prep or correct...that's my 2 cents worth :)

I'd definitely want to begin w a single dose package- probably a serum (power packed or moderately so) =) to see if I could conjure up something I liked well enough to share w my BFF and/or mass produce for myself. ~jk

Not single dose, rather, single ... like the finished product would be an ounce or half ounce. Sheesh... ~jk

This is such a fantastic idea. I love making acne masks... I mash up a few uncoated aspirin with a few drops of apple cider vinegar, pure cassia cinnamon, and a bit of manuka honey in a mortar and pestle and apply it to big cystic zits. Definitely helps prevent further inflammation, but I'm sure adding some high-tech ingredients would help to actually reduce the redness and size of those monsters. Leave it to YBF to give beauty lovers the power to innovate themselves! Bravo.

I already make my own Vit C serum and facial clay masks. I hope to make my own anti-aging cream soon.
