Five Best anti-aging creams for $65 and under

More than a year ago, I put together the Five Best anti-aging creams and serums for under $50.  As I came to update it, I realized that there are some really good new finds for just a teensy bit more. So, I am stretching this Five Best to $65 and under. There are a couple of outstanding under $50 products here as well and all of them have an impressive price to quality ratio.  After you have read this, check out the Five Best for under $100 from March this year.

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair Moisturizer ($65 in the TIA shop for 1.7 fl oz). If you have been intrigued by human stem cells in products by ReLuma and E’Shee but have balked at the price or even the notion, then plant-derived stem cells in this well-priced cream could be just what you are looking for. JB’s stem cells are taken from apple and grape buds, lemon bark, and apple, grape and lemon juices. This comfortable and soothing moisturizer has plenty of shea butter and jojoba. Aging skin will appreciate the essential fatty acids from evening primrose, linseed (flax) and borage. Read the full review

Tilvee Argan & Sea Buckthorn Age Defying Crème ($35 in the TIA shop for 2 oz). Tilvee seems especially good at formulating for troubled skin. If you are red, sensitive and whipsawed, try this out. Our reviewers reported that red and dry skin was promptly dealt with and that newly smoothed skin looked good in makeup. There are nourishing antioxidant butters from avocado, cocoa and kokum (part of the mangosteen family). Sea buckthorn is packed with vitamin C. Read the full review

Your Best Face Boost ($65 in the TIA shop for 1 oz). What impresses me most about Boost is that it works with really challenging combination skin: think dry and furrowed, yet also oily and prone to breakouts. Boost seems to be able to deal with all of these challenges by tightening lines, moisturizing and discouraging zits with niacin and vitamin B5 (research is showing that the Bs are effective acne treatments. Effective on its own, Boost is also a great team player so use it to eke out your more expensive serums. With heavy hitting anti-agers such as spin-trap, Lipochroman-6 and teprenone, this is very well priced. Read the full review.

L'uvalla Age Defying Day Night Cream ($49 in the TIA shop for 1.4 oz). Certified organic, L’uvalla’s skincare products are not only formulated with vegan ingredients straight from nature, but they are also sustainably produced, from seed to shelf. Two exotic anti-agers, lotus flower extract and argan oil, are L’uvalla’s signature ingredients. While the lotus flower lends the skin potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory powers, argan oil nourishes with fatty acids and vitamin E (twice the amount of olive oil). One 53 year old reviewer reported much improved skin after five weeks.

La Vie Celeste Day & Night Restorative Face Cream with R-Lipoic Acid ($65 in the TIA shop for 1.7 fl oz). This multitasking anti-aging moisturizer can be used day or night (or both). It features R-lipoic acid, a chirally correct form (which means the molecules are well absorbed by the skin) of this powerful antioxidant. Studies have shown that it helps overcome vitamin C and E deficiencies. Amongst the botanicals is apricot kernel. I am surprised we don’t see more of it in cosmetics as it is a good antioxidant, comprised mostly (about 70%) of oleic acid, an omega-9 fatty acid as well as plenty of vitamin E.

Thanks for the list, Marta. One brand I've recently come across is NOW. Usually known for their vitamin supplements, they also have a range of skin care products that contain a lot of the ingredients the TIA community appreciates... unfortunately the ingredients seem to be a little low on the list. They are super affordable though. What's your take?

Thanks for the great article, Marta.

One suggestion though. It would be helpful to know how much product I'm getting for my money. I don't see the volume listed for either the La Vie Celeste or the Juice Beauty creams. Personally, I know how long a 2 oz. jar of moisturizer is generally going to last me. When I shop that is one of the things I take into consideration. Helps to compare apples-to-apples, so to speak.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Hi karen, I have a really bad habit of not including sizes and I shall be more vigilant from now on (as well as adding them here). Just one point though, not all once ounces are the same (or 2) as with some products a little can go a long way - but then, I should try to make that clear too!

I agree with Dennis. I have used the supplement side of NOW for quite a while. They are very good nutritionals and don't inflate their prices. I too have been really interested in this new 'anti-age' & basic skin care line they now have.

My dear lord, for the price I have NO idea why I haven't done the test-drive.

    Hi Catherine,
Just reading your question here -- of the 15 ingredients in Boost, 10 of the ingredients are great anti-agers. Curious what would be a good addition to the formula if we look to make improvements?
