La Vie Celeste Day and Night Restorative Face Cream- reader reviewed and recommended

My interest initially piqued by TIA’s first La Vie Celeste review—Marta’s September 7 post on the glycolic mask, a product that sounded absolutely terrific and just what I was looking for—I was thrilled to have the chance to test and review the line’s day/night cream, the Day and Night Restorative Face Cream with R-Lipoic Acid ($65 in the TIA shop).  The timing couldn’t have been better:  I started using it just about four weeks ago, as summer weather turned to fall and I realized that the policy of benign neglect that I’d practiced through July and August (just serums, along with heavy and sometimes pore-clogging sunscreen, etc.) would be woefully inadequate as the days shortened and humidity plummeted.  I knew I needed a moisturizer I could use daily and didn’t really want to spend a small fortune on the cream my dermatologist sells. I am entirely pleased with my experience and congratulate TIA on having made yet another wonderful discovery:  a terrific, well-priced line that does what it says.

I was not expecting too much of the day/night cream when I first used it. The texture is almost surprisingly light and it absorbs with a smooth, matte finish.  I guess I’d been accustomed to creams that leave a bit more “moisture” on the skin. But it worked flawlessly under makeup and after a couple of weeks of morning-and-night use, I was very happy with how smooth, healthy, and well-hydrated my face seemed.

I should also point out that about a week or so in, I took advantage of the TIA Shop’s special offer on the glycolic mask and eye cream, and added both to the mix. Not surprisingly, the products worked even better in concert:  minimized pores, good tone and texture, and neither flakiness nor break-outs.  I am a particular fan of the mask, but the eye cream is also a very good product, though I do alternate it with TIA’s favorite, the sainted and unequaled Your Best Face Correct eye serum. But I’m sufficiently impressed with La Vie Celeste that I am planning to try both the exfoliating cleanser and toner reviewed by TIA a few weeks ago. (I’ve been using Nutra-Lift’s cheap and cheerful non-soap cleanser, which is certainly still a good, effective choice.)

As the weather gets colder and drier this winter, I can imagine I’ll want to use something a bit richer at least occasionally as a night cream. But I’m 55, and my skin is dry to begin with. La Vie Celeste’s Day and Night Cream will remain part of my arsenal and I know I will continue to rely on it as an everyday solution. It’s great to find an effective product at a sane price point that delivers on all counts.

    Hi Emily,
Thanks for this review. I have wondered about this cream since I also got the mask and eye cream TIA special and was very impressed with both.
The eye cream leaves a creamy matte finish (I also alternate with ybf Correct) and it sounds like this day/night cream does too.

I like to use serums under my cream so I think this will work well for me.

I hope we hear about your experience with the cleanser and toner too!

Hi L, see Marta's post and read thru the comments. It's recommended that you leave it on for 5 minutes but that depends on how sensitive your skin is? Marta says she left it on for an hour and I questioned if one could leave it on all night. I'll be buying the Try Me Kit this weekend (20% & Free shipping SALE) so that I can give it a go too! Let us all know how you like it! http://truthinaging.com/body/la-vie-celestes-glycolic-mask-reviewed-and-recommended

    Thanks!
I got their eye cream, mask and face cream in two days ago
and I like the eye and face creams. The face cream has really helped my face feel super soft, but not greasy. I like the eye cream, but havent used it but a few days as well. Now I will try the mask.
