Veris Rose Hip Seed Cleanser
Thanks to the folks at Veris Natural Skincare, who have graciously provided products for us to try. Their website recommends the Veris Rose Hip Seed Cleanser ($21) for oily or combination skin, so I chose it to test and review.
The Veris line is based on Natural Skincare and true to their claim, this cleanser contains only a handful of natural ingredients: purified water, olive oil castile, vegetable glycerin, rose hip seed oil, oil of kumquat and seaweed extracts. Unfamiliar with the benefits of rose hip seed oil, my check on the web revealed that it contains vitamins A and C and is high in linoleic and linolenic essential fatty acids and studies suggest that the oil may help in reducing wrinkles, acne scarring and promote collagen levels to increase.
Castile (a vegetable based soap) is not a new notion, but has been used for centuries. Since the castile is formulated with olive oil which helps to moisturize, it also has the added benefit of an antioxidant, hydroxytyrosol, which is believed to have an anti-inflammatory effect. I like the idea of using a cleanser that may have benefits other than just cleaning.
Lightly fragranced, this gel cleanser dispenses easily from a flip –top bottle and quickly foams when applied to a wet face using a circular motion as directed. (The fragrance doesn’t linger after rinsing.)
For about three weeks I have used this as my daily cleanser and have been very satisfied with the performance. I found that only a small amount is needed to clean my face thoroughly. It rinsed easily away and instead of giving me that stripped feeling, it left my skin moisturized. Natural, gentle cleansing and possible other benefits with sustained use, this is a cleanser I would recommend.

Thanks for the review Mark. The only issue I have with this Veris cleanser is that it is the exact same formula as the CSI Rose Hip Cleanser (that I often use), which is $17. The Veris packaging is nicer though. http://truthinaging.com/face/csi-rose-hips-facial-cleanser-tested-and-recommended

Nice review Mark! Appreciate the call out of Rose Hip Seed Oil, it's supposed to do wonders. I've been using a mix of rose hip seed, Vitamin E and Tamanu oils on my hands and neck at night ~ haven't yet decided. I chose the Veris Eye Cream and will be adding to your first review of products in this line soon.

Actually the CSI stuff has sodium benzoate in the ingredients, which is an irritant (and preservative). I don't see it in the ingredients of the Veris product.

Even if the ingredient lists are the same, the percentages used may be different. Most likely the more expensive product, has a higher percentage of the active. In this case the Rose Hip Seed Oil.
unfortunately there is no real way to tell. For all we know both may come from the same manufacturer, (most brands don't manufacture, they market), in which case pricing could vary due to location, availability, packaging etc.
