Yes To Blueberries

Yes To Carrots has always done an admirable job of making a largely natural product range for very affordable prices sold through big chains like Target. A year or so ago, it got us to say yes to tomatoes and now it is expanding to blueberries. I took a look at  Yes To Blueberries Daily Repairing Moisturizer ($19.99) and while I’m not saying no, I don’t feel like shouting yes from the rooftops.

The fact that the base is blueberry juice is great, but you shouldn’t overlook that the second ingredient is diluting water.  Blueberries have tremendous antioxidant properties as a result of anthocyanins (the pigment that makes blueberries dark blue). The USDA gives them an Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity (ORAC) score of 2,906.

Whilst the Blueberry range doesn’t seem to be as bursting with ingredients as Carrots, kudos to Yes for not only coming up with a new range, but a new ingredient: cotton thistle. This is not your everyday botanical, although it has been used for the treatment of burns. At a 2% concentration, it is supposed to act on epidermal differentiation, help the natural regeneration process and promote cutaneous repair. Plus research shows it to be a good antioxidant.

What lets Yes To Blueberries down is the four forms of “alcohol” in the formula, although There’s cetearyl alcohol, a low cost stabilizer that is also an emollient. Behenyl alcohol can cause skin irritation, as can phenethyl alcohol. Still, I’ve seen much worse in products that purport to be all natural and cost four times the price.

Ingredients

Vaccinium cyanococcus (blueberry) juice, water, glycerin, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, cetearyl alcohol, aloe barbadensis leaf extract*, caprylic/capric triglyceride, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), ethyl palmate*, onopordum acanthium (cotton thistle) flower/leaf/stem extract*, tocopherol (vitamin e), alcohol, cetearyl glucoside, behenyl alcohol, sucrose stearate, phenethyl alcohol, xanthan gum, glyceryl caprylate, fragrance .

I use the yes to blueberries eye cream and love it! In my 49 years I've tried more eye creams than I can count and have never found anything that performs better, at any price, on my extremely dry, sensitive under eyes. It's incredibly moisturizing without being greasy. And it absorbs beautifully...leaving my under eye area soft and hydrated all day and night. Concealer blends like a dream now! Hooray!! This stuff blurs the fine lines and crepeyness like magic and doesn't sting or cause irritation like so many other eye creams do! I've been using it for almost a month, day and night, and my eyes are looking better everyday. I can't say I see an improvement on the dark circles but I don't think it claims to do that. In the short time I've been using this it has dramatically reduced the dryness and softened the lines...which is what I wanted. I LOVE this eye cream and will continue to use it as long as it's available. I can't wait to check out some of the other products in the blueberry family! If they work half as well I'll be thrilled! Ps I don't work for or represent this company...just a totally satisfied customer!

I tried a sample of the eye cream and love it too! I also have tried many, many eye creams and feel it has out performed all others.
