Thanks to Sarah's sleuthing , I've just become acquainted with a makeup that uses organic ingredients called Vapour Organic Beauty and I'm trying out the 3-in-1 moisturizer, primer and no-color foundation called Stratus Instant Skin Perfector ($44). This multitasker performs well, is full of good things and puts most so-called BB creams to shame. Stratus comes in stick form and the idea is to rub it on the back of your hand to warm it up, then apply the stick over the face and finish by smoothing and blending with your finger tips. You can use it all over the face, or target it where some subtle camouflage - for acne scars, fine lines, uneven skin tone - is needed. I am using it all over the face and without foundation over it.
Foundation addicts can use it as a primer. Although the shade (902) is a bit too light for my ruddy summer complexion (Vapour makes Stratus in two other tones), it will be perfect in winter. In any case, I am loving the no shine, light reflecting, skin tone smoothing results. And just as good is knowing that I am putting mostly useful and nourishing ingredients on my skin. (If you do wear a foundation with iffy chemicals in it, then Stratus would be a useful barrier between them and you). The bases are organic evening primrose and sunflower oils. Evening primrose is rich in (omega-6) fatty acids, including linoleic acid (LA) gamma linoleic acid (GLA). The human body uses LA to produce GLA, which helps maintain stratum corneum cohesion and reduce transepidermal water loss.
Sunflower seed oil is a good source of vitamin E. There are several botanical extracts including elderberry, which is supposed to be good for boosting the immune system. Pumpkin extract is full of beta-carotene, one of the plant carotenoids that is converted to vitamin A in the body. Pumpkin is also a good source of thiamin, niacin, vitamin B6, folate, pantothenic acid, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, vitamin C, vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol), riboflavin, potassium, copper and manganese.
Meanwhile, papaya delivers beta carotene and vitamins A and C The only thing that I have slight reservations about is titanium dioxide, but this is overwhelmingly a nice product from a natural makeup brand that prides itself on recycling, minimizing waste and donating to breast cancer charities - that I am interested in getting to know better.

apply sparingly or your face will have a white sheen. i find that using it along with vapour's foundation stick is a little heavy on my face, but maybe that's just what happens when formulating an all-natural product (and who doesn't prefer that to rubbing parabens into your pores???).
i wonder if vapour has ever considered trying to formulate a bb cream that cuts the thickness of their products down a little.

This is my favorite base before applying foundation. Other bases I tried did not seem to do anything; and while this one is not dramatic, it does provide a nice smooth base for foundation. On days when I wear makeup, I use this as a base, with my RMS un-cover up, and then apply my Vapour foundation. (I find the Vapour liquid foundation to run dark, so I blend mine with some Youngblood foundation that was too light! Blending makes the perfect shade for my skin. I have both the liquid and the stick Vapour foundations, and I like them both, but the stick shades seem truer to what you'd expect.)

I really like this product. I purchased the sample kit from Vapour and tried five products and this is my favorite of the five. I applied it after moisturizer and sunscreen. The price is high, but I may purchase the full size. Am also using the Vapour concealer and really like it.
