Aveeno Positively Ageless Correcting Tinted Moisturizer- reader reviewed and recommended
Aveeno's Positively Ageless Correcting Tinted Moisturizer with vitamin C SPF 30 ($17.99) definitely surpassed my expectations. Aveeno is known for being a skin friendly brand that specializes in skin care, which is why I was so surprised at how well this worked as a makeup product as well. You can find this in all major drugstores and it's quick and easy to use. I used this product every day until I was completely done with the bottle and can say that this is the best tinted moisturizer I've ever used.
One of my favorite qualities about this product is the fact that it contains SPF 30. I like that I can combine my moisturizer, SPF and foundation all in one quick step. I found that applying this with your hands is also most effective-- no fancy brushes or beauty blenders needed here! This method of applying is not only easier to apply if you're in a time crunch or applying it on the fly but it also helps blend the product much better.
At first the color is very strange when you pump it into your hand. But once it is blended on your face it really does a good job of blending in to your natural skin tone. While on the topic of shade, I think it is important to mention that that Aveeno's Tinted Moisturizer only comes in two colors: light and medium. I have light skin so the light shade worked well for me, but for someone like my sister who has pretty dark olive skin, it was a little trickier. When me and my sister experimented using it on her it took a little more effort to get it to match her skin tone; we had to really work on blending it out and had to finish it off with a bronzing power to bring some of her color back.
I would describe my skin as combination; dry in some areas, oily in others. This tinted moisturizer did a great job of giving me nice even coverage without making me look oily. The bottle claims to be oil free but for someone who has overall oily skin, I wonder how this product would do for you as it does leave a bit of a shine. Not that the shine is a bad thing per say... I would describe it as a "glow" or a "glean." Also, if you struggle with really bad skin tone or any other major skin issues, this might not be the product for you because this is medium coverage and would not work well to hide obvious blemishes.
All in all Aveeno's Tinted Moisturizer is a fantastic product that I would gladly recommend to any of my friends. It's a great foundation substitute that can be applied in one quick and easy step (moisturizer, SPF, foundation... voila!) and lacks all the nasty glitzy shimmery stuff that so many tinted moisturizers that claim to give you glowing skin usually have. Aveeno's Tinted Moisturizer get's an A- from me!
