I love getting TIA mail! A few weeks ago I opened a little packaged to find a Bharti Vyas Face Balm sample inside. Bharti Vyas is a natural skincare line that comes out of a holistic beauty center in London. I have been using the face balm for about two weeks now and I really like it. It’s incredibly nourishing and moisturizing and definitely is more of a balm than a lotion.
It’s the color of Vaseline, although the comparisons stop there. It’s not too heavy or overly greasy. (I’m sure the makers of this balm are cringing at the fact that I compared it to Vaseline). It has a beautiful subtle scent that doesn’t overpower or smell perfumey. And it feels so soothing and wonderful my skin just drinks it up. It leaves my skin looking super glowy, dewy and moisturized. Although, I could easily imagine someone else using it and describing that “dewy” look as greasy, since it doesn't fully rub in. And I’m not sure this is a product I would use much in the hot sticky summer months.
While the ingredients are all lovely, there’s nothing remarkable or sciencey in this formula. It’s mostly jojoba oil, beeswax, vitamin E, and then a bunch of really nice essential oils and plant extracts: Ylang Ylang, chamomile, bitter orange, carrot, tea tree, rose, and jasmine, to name a few. I think this product is excellent for when your skin is dry or irritated, and just needs a natural soothing treatment, that’s not trying to do a million other things. It nourishes and rejuvenates, and feels delicious on sensitive dry skin.
