Lumixyl MoistureLock Sunscreen – reader reviewed
I was excited to get to try this product, as finding a good mineral sunscreen can be difficult. After about a week of use, I noticed that Lumixyl Sunscreen ($58 in the TIA shop) has some of the same problems as other sunscreens I've tried:
1) It's hard to rub into my skin and to get the whiteness out. I have medium Asian skin and it left white streaks that took a bit of rubbing to get it to completely absorb. It's quite tacky, so it didn't sink it that well. This could be helped if it came in a tinted version for darker skin types, but I suspect it won't completely go away, as I've tried tinted sunscreens before, and the one that sinks in best for me is Tizo3.
2) It made my skin shiny. Not dewy, like a 20 year old, but shiny, like I looked oily. I hate this aspect the most about sunscreens, as it requires a lot of powder or some other mattifying product, and I hate having to add so much stuff to my skin.
But other than those two issues, the sunscreen was fine. It protected pretty well, held up against regular sweat ok (didn't try it out while I was working out however, so can't tell about active sweating), and there were no weird smells. For me, though, this sunscreen didn't really stand out. I'll probably use this up, but will count on my trusty Tizo3, which feels silkier and rubs in better in my opinion.
