Before I start my review, I have to say that I have dry skin with extreme melasma (hyperpigmentation
) on my face and neck, which means I use medium to full coverage foundation (sometimes a few layers) to cover it up.
In my quest for the perfect sunscreen, I have tried every possible product out there – from designer brands (Shiseido, Clarins
, etc) to natural
alternatives. My skin leaves me with no choice but to use a light yet strong sunscreen. I think I have found it in Lumixyl MoistureLock Sunscreen SPF30 ($58 in the TIA store
). It leaves my skin feeling fresh, silky and smooth and it does not have that greasy white residue. In fact, it’s so light I can use it with multiple products. I always use it over my favorite moisturizer (Boost by YBF - $65 in the TIA shop
) and then follow with a few layers of liquid foundation
. It sounds like a lot, but this combination of products does not make me look caked up; quite the opposite – I look fresh and radiant despite my hyperpigmentation.
I usually like to use higher SPF products to protect my face in the summer, but I happened to take Lumixyl with me to Greece for my vacation and it saved my face from the strong sun. It passed all tests – a) I did not get new spots on my face and it protected the existing ones from getting worse and b) it stayed put and did not melt off from a lot of walking under the boiling sun. It’s a win-win for me.
