Osmotics Age Prevention Sheer Facial Tint SPF45- reader reviewed
I was lucky enough to review Osmotics Age Prevention Sheer Facial Tint SPF45 (I got it in the shade of light). The product lives up to its name of being super light. The sample arrived around the same time I purchased my tinted moisturizer from 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented SPF 20. I was excited to try both. I’ve been on the market looking for tinted moisturizer with SPF for summer. Throughout the past couple of years, I’ve used numerous sun protection products. Out of all of them, Osmotics was one of the better ones but not the best.
Let’s go into what I loved about the product. It is super light and does not have any weird scent. My skin errs on the combination/oily side, so one of my concerns for Osmotics when I was trying it out was how my skin would react to it. Some sun protection has caused me to break out. Thankfully, this did not happen. In addition, my critical friend, who always tells me if my face is shiny or not, did not say anything. It stayed matte. Another great benefit about this product was how high the SPF was. My 100% Pure is good for everyday in the winter time, but I think for summer time, Osmotics would be better. The overall coverage was just enough, but if it is possible, I think I would prefer to have a little more coverage.
For the cons, the ingredients are not impressive. I’m not an expert on the ingredients but what I did dig up from the Truth in Aging website was enough for me to decide not to purchase this product. There are a couple ingredients on there that makes me skeptical about purchasing this. They have cyclopentasiloxane listed as an ingredient. While it may not have adverse effects on the human body, it is harmful to the environment, specifically the marine life. As a TIA fan, I’m not fan of anything that harms the environment. Another ingredient, phenoxyethanol, can cause reproductive damage if swallowed, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin. Furthermore, Oleth-3 Phosphate, listed as an emulsifier has a track record of causing contact dermatitis.
While not all the ingredients are harmful, the benefits of this tinted moisturizer did not WOW me enough to want to purchase a bottle. My 100% Pure tinted has the same benefits without the harmful ingredients. I am also using ColoreScience, which is my favorite SPF because of how easy it is to apply and how high the SPF protection is.
TIA note: We have learned from Osmotics that Age Prevention Sheer Facial Tint SPF45 ($36) will be available at the end of July.
