Revive Sensitif Oil Free Lotion SPF 15 - reviewed and rejected
Revive's lotion starts out by being highly appealing to the senses. Heavy frosted glass bottle with a sturdy and well functioning pump. The lotion is strikingly bright white like fresh fallen snow with no odor which to me, implies purity. It's amazingly silky, with a light, slightly whipped texture that smoothes effortlessly across the face. Revive's patented, bio-engineered EGF is supposedly made up of 53 amino acids, and according the Revive website, makes it a pure protein molecule of EGF. Revive has put together some nice humectants and moisturizers with tocopheryl acetate (vitamin e), allantoin, hyaluronic acid, laminara saccharina extract (a humectant from sugar kelp) and glycolipids (molecules that contain sugar and fats).
As lovely as my last paragraph sounds, Revive will start to loose some appeal with its use of two chemical sunscreens. Avobenzone and octinoxate both degrade in sunlight with avobenzone helping to degrade octinoxate even faster. Really...SPF 15, why even bother? Cyclopentasiloxane is the ingredient that makes Revive's lotion so silky, but it's a moderately hazardous silicone that sits fairly high up in the ingredient list. I do like the inclusion of bisabolol and disodium EDTA as they help other ingredients penetrate better, albeit scary to have the last 3 mentioned and 3 parabens penetrate even better. Even with this penetration assistance, Revive's Sensitif Oil Free Lotion seems to sit on the surface of my skin, making it look oily and shiny. I can correct this with a dusting of finishing powder but then wonder if this expensive lotion is being sucked up by powder instead of my skin.
After a month of daily use, I say that Revive's Sensitif Oil Free Lotion SPF15 is just okay. A bit disappointing for such an expensive product. It does moisturize and it doesn't cause me to break out, which is nice, but it does little else. ReLuma's Moisturizer improved texture and color for half the price. A 2 ounce bottle of Revive's Sensitif Oil Free Lotion SPF 15 retails for $195 and at the moment, I should be happy that I won't have to raise our family's yearly debt ceiling, in order to repurchase this.
