SkinActives Collagen Serum- reader reviewed and recommended
I used SkinActives Collagen Serum ($13.50 for 1.0 oz) for one month straight and give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars. This product goes on smoothly, absorbs well, isn’t greasy and tightens my skin immediately after application. There is no discernible scent to either like or dislike. The appearance of the lotion looks like tobacco juice to me; it is a brown color, yet that doesn’t distract from its efficacy at all.
I used it under and over my foundation and it soaked right in – I liked the way it felt on my skin. I applied it in the evening and also under my eyes with no problems at all. After a month’s use, my skin looks good. I haven’t noticed huge results, but I believe this is the type of product that is cumulative and requires long-term use to really see the benefits that one could derive from it.
My biggest complaint is that the dropper isn’t tear-drop shaped, and it should be. As of right now, it is just a dropper with a big opening at the end of it. The way the dropper is currently shaped lends itself to applying either too much or too little of the product. In addition, I would highly recommend (and prefer) the dropper to have lines indicating how much of the product you should use with each application. At this point, I’ve used about 3/4 of the bottle up in the month that I’ve had it. I’m not sure if I’ve used too much in the last month (it’s a 1 ounce bottle), so I tried to use it as judiciously as I could. Actually, now that I’m thinking about it, there are no real instructions on the appropriate amount of the serum to fill the dropper with on the product label. That is a big design flaw.
As for packaging, I assume the company would rather utilize its technology for the product rather than packaging – and I agree, I don’t need a fancy bottle that will only yank up the price. However, appearance is pretty important, so I hope the company finds a happy medium in their price/appearance.
My last qualm is that it’s hard to see how much product is left in the bottle since it’s a dark green color. Unless you open the bottle to look, you’ll have no idea how much is left. I’m not sure if the color of the bottle is dictated by what’s in it (maybe the product is light sensitive) but, as I said, you can’t tell how much is left unless you open it.
Overall, I would buy and continue to use the SkinActives Collagen Serum. It’s a great product that delivers what it says it’s supposed to, which is the production of more collagen and thus more youthful skin. Bravo SkinActives but, as I said, back to the drawing board with the product design and appearance.
