Skinfinite facial scrub- reader reviewed and recommended
I was very happy to be selected to receive a jar of Skinfinite Micro Derma Scrub ($35 in the TIA shop) for review from the wonderful team at Truth in Aging. Before I get into describing the product, I’d like to start by describing my skin because my skin has a myriad of issues and I’m always looking for multi-tasking products that are kind to sensitive skin. To start off, I am 37, and like Kristen Arnett mentioned here have noticed that the 37th year has been a real turning point for the worse for my skin. Mostly, I just wake up looking puffier, duller, and saggier than I remember in the past. Granted, I am a mom of a 13-month insomniac, so certainly some of the issues are probably due to a prolonged lack of sleep and the stress of hearing a child constantly shrieking. Nonetheless, my basic skin issues are: sun damage (I’ve lived in Florida for 18 years); an oily T-zone with periodic breakouts and blackheads; acne scarring on my chin; random dry spots on other areas; occasional dermatitis flare-ups on my eyelids; and some crepey eye wrinkles.
To start off with, the jar is quite large at 3.3 oz.; I imagine it will last me some time. The smell is quite nice also (though I tend towards preferring as little fragrance as possible in a product unless it is from an essential oil, mostly because I am always suspicious of where the “fragrance” comes from. The texture is very grainy – I mean this is truly a microdermabrasion alternative. After I began massaging it into my skin, I realized that you could definitely overdo it with this product if you scrub too hard. I was even concerned that my sensitive skin would react negatively afterwards. I’m a big believer in exfoliation, but I have taken it too far in the past and had terrible skin reactions from over-sloughing. So I used this scrub gently, left it on for five minutes or so to give the skin-brightening ingredients some time to do their work, and rinsed it off easily afterwards.
Let me tell you – for the next few hours, I could not stop touching my face. It was so amazingly soft and rosy and plump! And even after a day or two, not a sign of irritation to behold. My pores looked smaller and my skin brighter! I love this scrub!
Because the Skinfinite scrub is so good at clearing congested skin, I have started to enjoy just scrubbing it on my nose occasionally too, to help loosen up and clear my stubborn blackheads. It works great as a quick T-zone treatment. I would say this scrub is ideal for all skin types: it clarifies without drying and leaves skin dewy and soft.
My vote is yes for this multi-purpose scrub. My skin, with all of its issues, handled it like a dream and I will definitely be coming back to this product again every week for a brightening pick-me-up and a clarifying treatment.
