Today the Truth In Aging Olympics challenge is focused on lips and how to keep them luscious and lovely. After years of experimentation, I have found that lip lines need powerful anti-agers that stay the course. I give the Gold Medal to a duo that really lick lip lines: Your Best Face Define and AQ’s Serum. For prettying your pout, RMS Beauty’s Lip Shine more than earns a Silver, while Alima Pure’s Nourishing Lip Balm helps rescue dry lips.
Lick Your Lip Lines Duo
($185 in the TIA shop
). This combo of AQ Active Serum and Your Best Face Define Lip Area Cream makes inroads into those stubborn lip lines. YBF Define, designed to target the lip area, is an outstanding product that makes the lips look darker and a little fuller (don't expect bee-sting plumping though). It has all of YBF’s signature anti-agers - spin-trap, Lipochroman-6 and Syn-Tacks - as well as antioxidant niacin and white tea, hydrating and plumping sodium hyaluronate and an expression line inhibitor. AQ’s serum includes wound healing human growth factors that stimulate skin cells to repair wrinkles. Diligent daily use - AQ for the area around the mouth and YBF Define directly on the lips - will help kiss those lip lines good bye.
RMS Beauty Lip Shine
($25 in the TIA shop
). A lovely lip stain that doesn’t have that gloopy texture of gloss; rather it is lip color with a nice shine to it. I love the color - I have "Bloom" - and once on, it is a light pink with a touch of brown that is very flattering for me. It is comfortable, protects my lips from the harsh cold winds of late, is pretty and I feel that is doing my pout some actual good. Which it is - thanks to moringa extract. The moringa tree is so amazing that some people believe that if you planted enough of them, they could be the solution for world hunger. Food for thought. Read more
Alima Pure Nourishing Lip Balm
($7 in the TIA shop
). Alima makeup is always a winner as far as Kristen Arnett, our makeup artist, is concerned. This lip balm with a stain of color is incredibly comfortable to wear and it really feels nourishing to dry lips and protective against the elements, with shea and cocoa butters. Pomegranate oil and extract bring some welcome antioxidants and peppermint gives the lips some zing.
