Five Best for whitening teeth

With all those Halloween vampire costumes, thoughts easily go to fabulous fangs. Less simple is finding a teeth whitening solution that really works, without hurting even the most sensitive gums. We've tested a variety of whitening kits, strips, pens, brushes, wraps and pastes. The best so far, for deep cleaning is the new Watts Whitening Kit, for a really amped up cleaner (this is not your dad's toothpaste) we found Supersmile, touch ups on the go are provided by the convenient Brite Smile Teeth Whitening Pen, the Philips Sonic Toothbrush will put a smile on your dentist's dial, and for humble toothpaste we like Elgydium.

I've been told by a dentist that 36% carbamide peroxide is approximately equivalent to 9.5% hydrogen peroxide. Carbamide is measured about 3x the strength of hydrogen peroxide. Once it's exposed, the carbamide version breaks down into hydrogen peroxide to do its whitening job. I mention this only because there are kits available of either version and some include ingredients to lessen potential sensitivity.

Also, I've read all the warnings about hydrogen peroxide but I have a friend who worked for a dentist for years and he brushed with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide (the 3% you can buy at any drugstore) all his life. When he passed away at age 86, he still had all of his teeth!
