Elena Rubin Stirling Super Serum

Five Best for Wrinkles 2016

Size: 1.0 fl. oz. (30 ml)

Elena Rubin Stirling Super Serum is the most effective anti-aging serum for firming, smoothing, hydrating and plumping skin by the Elena Rubin line. The super serum rebuilds skin tone and elasticity that makes it a must for aging skin, fine lines, crepe-like skin and anyone considering a more invasive anti-aging procedure. Members from our Truth In Aging community have tested and highly recommended this serum and now you can too!

There are no fewer than seven peptides for rebuilding collagen, reducing wrinkle depth and preventing sun damage. Heavy-hitting actives include Matrixyl 3000, aldenine and hexpeptide-11. No harsh preservatives and nothing to dislike. To see the best results, apply morning and night to clean skin.

Tested for 30 days and recommended by Karin:

To say this product is a miracle worker might be a bit of an exaggeration, but not by much. Some background on my skin: I am 63 and while my skin has held up pretty well over the years, I have been frustrated by the loss of firmness and increase in dryness and fine lines. I have tried a number of products with varying degrees of success. Until this. This little peptide-packed power serum (7 in total!) has been a complete game changer for me.

The Elena Rubin website describes this serum as being a must for aging skin, fine lines, crepe-like skin and for anyone considering invasive procedures. They also call it the most effective age-reversing serum they could possibly make. And they know how to package their products. This serum comes in a dark blue bottle with a dropper application that works perfectly but more importantly protects the efficacy of this pricey product.

My beauty routine consists of many steps and many products. I have become an expert at layering but when I received this initially I decided to use it exclusively so I could better track any improvement or lack of. I used it in the morning after washing and then again in the evening. This serum left my skin very soft and smooth and my makeup just seemed to glide on. By day 5 my skin was showing a visible improvement in both elasticity and firmness and my fine lines were starting in smooth out. By the third week I was actually receiving compliments on my skin! And I was seeing an improvement in my deeper lines around my mouth. My elevenses are gone. My skin is plump and glowing.

It's not hard to understand why this product works so effectively. Of the 7 peptides included, 24% is Hexapeptide-11. This is the workhorse of peptides. Hexapeptide-11 is derived from yeast and why that makes it such a powerful ingredient is still being studied. But powerful and effective it is.

Given the amount of peptides in this product I had very high expectations for some minimal improvements but ended up being surprised at how dramatically this serum has improved the look and feel of my skin. I am now incorporating it into my regular skin care routine and layering it with other products and the results are only getting better.

Around week 3 I was debating whether or not to buy a bottle once this test bottle is gone. At almost $300 it's an expensive addition to an already effective skin care routine. But in week 4 I realized the improvement is so substantial and so dramatic that the price is really commensurate with the results and I've decided this is one product I can not live without! And I suspect this bottle will last a long time. I have been using it almost 5 weeks and there is still a lot left. A little of this luxurious serum goes a long way. Do I recommend this product? Absolutely. Without a doubt!

Our Take

I was given the opportunity to test the Elena Rubin Stirling Serum ($289 in the shop) for firming and hydrating. To say this product is a miracle worker might be a bit of an exaggeration, but not by much. I bought this after reading Karin's review and have to agree with her. I have a little groove at my outer lip that may soon go into the past tense. Clearer skin, fainter lines and I'm only through 2/3 of the bottle. I don't find it sticky, nor does it leave my slightly oily skin shiny (but perhaps that's because I think it is naturally on the shiny side). Anyway, Stirling is proving to be a heavy hitter for me.

For my 30 day Elena Rubin Stirling Super Serum trial, I stopped using all other active products except for the Andrew Weil Mega Mushroom, which I layered over the Stirling twice a day (I generally wait about 5 minutes between applications).

I did not see any dramatic improvements during the 30 days, but obviously I have quite a high-quality skincare regimen already, so that's not surprising. I thought the Stirling maintained my skin quite well and was surprisingly good at keeping the mild acne and redness in check — especially since I was traveling for about 10 days of the 30, and that's usually hard on my skin.

I did not have any sort of negative reaction, and did not find the product irritating in any way. The one thing I really did not care for was that the Stirling left my skin with quite a shiny, rather sticky finish that persisted even after applying the mushroom serum and blotting multiple times.

I am on the fence as to whether or not I'd buy this product to use again. For firmness, I think the Medik8 Firewall is irreplaceable, and the E'shee serums leave my skin with a lovely, healthy, non-sticky glow. I might buy the Stirling for regular use on my neck and chest.
