With summer in full swing, it’s time to show our bodies some tender loving care. We spend so much time and effort on our faces that we can lose sight of everything below the chin. The décolleté and knees, for example, can be ruthless witnesses to our age. Happily, body products go beyond your basic lotion these days and can be truly transformative. Here are some of my favorites, including some new discoveries, for smoother skin from the neck to the knees.

Neck and décolleté do-gooders

Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic & Retinol Fortifying Neck Emulsion ($75 in the shop)
I have been on a mission to find some good neck creams and in the past year, we’ve added three to the shop, starting with this silky treatment that firms and resurfaces the skin. It has earned accolades from the community, such as “amazing” and “perfect” — and I just bought my second bottle!

Soleil Toujours Daily Anti-Aging Power Serum for Face & Neck ($145)
This is a good one for summer as it has EcoSunComplex, composed of red algae, vitamin C ester, vitamin E and bisabolol. Each of these actives acts as a natural SPF booster while firming and smoothing skin.

SimySkin Intensive Ultra Lift Neck Serum Phase II 45+ ($85)
Pullulan, a film former, provides instant skin-tightening gratification, but this pick also works on the long-term with collagen-boosting Matrixyl 3000.

Truth Vitality Lux Renew ($279 in the shop)
Ultrasound and LED make a huge difference on the neck and décolleté. Although always scrupulous in welding my Lux at my face, I have to admit that I was a bit haphazard in my use of the Truth Vitality Lux Renew below the chin. A concerted effort in the last six months is paying off with a smoother neck and less pronounced tree rings.

We are also testing a brand new one from Truth In Aging community favorite, SkinOwl, so watch this space.

Allover exfoliators

ASDM Beverly Hills Glycolic Acid Complex Lotion ($35)
This is such a good find! Although powerfully formulated with 15 percent glycolic acid and 5 percent lactic acid (exfoliating alpha hydroxyl acids), it’s a comfortable, never-tingly body lotion that smooths and brightens the skin. It is great for areas of crepey wrinkles, such as the knees, but hydrating enough to be used as your regular body lotion. In addition to vitamin E, there are honey, pineapple and papaya extracts.

Arcona Pumpkin Lotion 10% ($35)
A little on the tingly side, I reserve this product for the tougher hide on my elbows and knees. However, everyone has a different tolerance and this is an excellent brightening cream. It’s not your traditional body moisturizer and should be targeted sparingly on areas of hyperpigmentation.

Stemulation Micro Derm Scrub ($34 in the shop)
This gentle exfoliator can be used on the face and body, and with an 8-ounce tube, you can definitely justify treating your body every now and again. The interesting actives include diatomaceous earth, a fine powder made from crumbled pieces of soft, natural sedimentary rock, and one of my all-time favorites, silybum. It really gives the skin a nice glow.

Anti-aging lotions

CBD for Life Pure CBD Body Massage Lotion ($22.99)
As mentioned above, ASDM’s Glycolic Acid Complex Lotion is also hydrating and, for many people, could stand in as a regular post-shower moisturizer. Another good basic to consider is CBD for Life Body Massage Lotion. Its active, cannabidiol, has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that help treat acne and skin disorders. I’m on my second tube of this stuff.

Sciote Body Firming Lotion ($40)
For more of a heavy hitter, dry skin types tend to find this body lotion extremely helpful. It's headliner ingredient, glaucine, is also supposed to help with cellulite. Another perk: It comes in three scents that are more sophisticated than most body lotions.

Stemulation Relance Body Lotion ($98 in the shop)
I used to be a lone voice in the Truth In Aging community, espousing the wonderful effects of Stemulation Relance. But I am pleased to note that it has been acquiring a cult following. It’s the only body lotion I can think of with human stem cell conditioned media. There’s also pepper extracts that firm up skin’s supporting tissue and antioxidant sedge.  It really does help crepey, sagging skin and a little goes a long way (plus you can always alternate with one of the lower priced lotions).

The bee’s knees

Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Pads ($88 in the shop)
After using one on my face and neck, I give my knees and elbows a quick swipe before tossing. I feel like I’m really getting my money’s worth and my knees are definitely thanking me.

Deciem Hand Chemistry Retin Oil ($20 in the shop)
Wrinkly knees will bend to this — trust me. Unslightly bumps on upper arms, stretch marks and scars are also improved with the use of this multi-vitamin dry body oil. Note the word dry; it isn’t an oily oil and is meant for targeting those trouble spots with a non-irritating form of retinol.

Sun solutions

Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads for Body ($45 in the shop)
Improve skin texture and give yourself a sun-kissed look at the same time with these wipes. AHAs improve skin texture and tone, vitamin D and caffeine give a brightening boost, and there’s even an ingredient that minimizes hair growth so you can go longer between shaving.

Suntegrity Natural Mineral Sunscreen for Body SPF 30 ($24 in the shop)
This is my pick for sun protection: It has non-nano zinc oxide to shield, plus antioxidants from organic green tea, cucumber and pomegrante seed oil to help fight off free radicals.

This is just a sampling of what we have for the body in the Truth In Aging shop. Browse around and find the products that will make you daring enough to drop your sarong.
