A pore closing exfoliating cleanser to replace a scrub

Uses bamboo rather than harmful microbeads

Strong scent

By Alissa

I tried Airelle Exfoliating Cleanser for four weeks ($64). I was hoping that this product would make my face look healthier and brighter as well as decrease the appearance of the pores on my nose and cheeks especially since it includes glycolic acid. I am in my mid 30s with normal skin. I have an occasional pimples with unnoticeable comedones mostly on my forehead.

I typically use products with all natural ingredients, which this cleanser advertises. The ingredient lists all natural ingredients as well as naturally derived ingredients. However I prefer products that use easily recognizable ingredients with few or no naturally derived ingredients, such as the sodium cocoyl isethionate and sodium lauroamphoacetate found in Airelle’s cleanser. I was happy to see that the exfoliate is made from bamboo and not micro beads that have been shown to be harmful to the environment.

My facial cleansing routine consists of a water rinse followed by toner and moisturizer with spf in the morning and an oil cleanser followed by toner and facial serum in the evening. I use a facial scrub three to four times a week and a face mask with blue tansy twice a week. I replaced my oil cleanser and facial scrub with Airelle Exfoliating Cleanser.

At first, my skin was drier, but this resolved after approximately one week. I noticed that the appearance of my pores did decrease with use of Airelle Exfoliating Cleanser after approximately three weeks. At first I found the citrus scent a little too strong, but as I became used to it, it became a more pleasant scent. I also found that if I wash my face at the sink instead of in the shower, the exfoliator takes a while to rinse off. I did not feel that my face was any cleaner or had less blackheads with Airelle Exfoliating Cleanser compared to using my oil cleanser. I would definitely consider using this product, but would probably replace my current facial scrub with Airelle Exfoliating Cleanser and continue using my oil cleanser on the other days.
