Powerful peptides and anti-aging actives help support the skin’s natural ability to produce new collagen and elastin

Pros

Plumps and smooths skin

Cons

None

Alastin Skincare has an impressive board — from the CEO and sales and marketing executives to dermatologists and scientists. The executive suite also includes the inventor of highly-utilized scar and wound treatment solutions. So, I was delighted to be able to test the Alastin Skincare Restorative Skin Complex ($195). It is the leading product in the line and is formulated to restore and maintain skin health for an overall younger-looking appearance.

The Alastin Skincare scientists have developed a patent-pending TriHex Technology, which is a proprietary blend of peptides and other key ingredients that support the skin’s extracellular matrix (ECM). It helps stimulate the production of healthy collagen and elastin, as well as optimizing the recovery processes. It’s also said to be useful in fighting inflammation, a culprit behind aging skin’s loss of elasticity and development of wrinkles.

Other key ingredients listed include phosphatidylserine, a phospholipid that is known to be essential for cellular function, especially in our brains. Palmitoyl dipeptide-5 is an effective firming and conditioning agent while L-Ornithine is listed as a plumping agent. Though all seemingly powerful, with this limited list of ingredients, I was skeptical that this serum would produce the results as stated in the accolades on their website, Facebook and on medical spa websites.

The packaging is simple and not misleading. The product is delivered through a pump with a tight cap (a pet peeve as many do not have tight caps). The directions state to use two pumps every morning and evening on the face, neck and decollate. Though somewhat emollient for a serum, it absorbs quickly and leaves the skin supple but not slick. Other products layer well over it.

I’m in my early 60s and my work takes me on extensive international travel. Despite my travel, my obsessive regimen continues to maintain skin that looks a good ten years younger. Needless to say, skin care is extremely important to me. I have few lines, but my skin is sensitive and starting to sag. I was very interested to see if Alastin Skincare Restorative Complex would produce plumper skin or, at the very least, keep it in the good shape it was in.

I used three pumps of the serum to cover my face, neck and decollate twice per day. I continued to apply the basic skin care I use on my face and neck before I would apply this heavy-duty serum. For the first two weeks, my skin looked as good as it did prior to using the product, so I initially wondered if it was worth the cost. But at weeks three and four, I noticed a plumpness to my face that I had not seen prior to using the product. I was truly impressed! This is a 5-star product with my only hesitation being the price. However, if my face falls when I switch back to my normal products, I will definitely be investing in this.

Update: I purchased the product and have no regrets. This is a great product to treat wrinkles and sagging.
