Pros

Made a noticeable difference by refining fine lines

Cons

Can only use sporadically due to retinol
A balanced and effective formula

I'm game for trying any new product and those for the eyes are probably my favorite, but I was especially happy to try out Amarte Eyeconic Eye Cream ($80) as it already has Marta's stamp of approval. Of course all products don't work equally for everyone, but the success of a prior tester certainly holds promise.

The addition of retinol (at a 3.8% concentration) to an eye cream may give many pause, but I have used retinol alone in the past and am familiar with the dryness, flaking and sometimes irritation that accompanies it, so it didn't deter me. As it turns out, there is no need for these concerns as I didn't experience any of the harsh effects usually associated with retinol. No dryness, no flaking, no irritation. It was actually quite the opposite. With glycerin and argan oil as the second and third ingredients respectively, I found this cream kept the eye area sufficiently moisturized and hydrated while doing a nice job of smoothing the lower eye area. Quick to absorb, this is a light cream that applies easily without undue rubbing of the delicate eye area, and a very small amount is all that is needed for each eye.

Over a four-week period, Amarte Eyeconic Eye Cream performed well by hydrating my eye area and made a noticeable difference by refining and smoothing the under-eye area and helping to keep the fine lines at bay. I would recommend it, but with a caveat for myself. I would not want to make it my only eye product for an observation that Marta noted in her review. Since it is generally accepted that continuous use of retinol tends to thin the skin, I would use this intermittently for refining and smoothing but choose another favorite eye product for my regular daily use.

Ingredients in Amarte Eyeconic Eye Cream: Water, Glycerin, Argan Oil, Retinol 3.8%, Butylene Glycol, Cetyl Alcohol, Adenosine, Allantoin, Elemental Sulfur, Human Oligopeptide-1 (EGF 2-Nano), Ginkgo Biloba Nut Extract, Nutmeg Kernel Extract, Clove Seed Extract, Eucalyptus Alba Leaf Extract, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Arginine, Dimethicone, Stearic Acid, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Carbomer, Sorbitan Sesquiolate, Glyceryl Stearate/PEG-100 Stearate, PEG-40 Stearate, Self-Emulsifying Glyceryl Monostearate, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol

I have been using Amarte eye cream for just over a month, and I like it very much! It made an absolute difference in the texture and thickness of my under-eye skin and upper lids. I use it every night, alternating with a lentil-size drop of emu oil / LOL eye serum in the morning. I tried to alternate with YBF Correct, but ended up using Correct on the neck instead - it is too drying to my skin, comparing to my new regimen. My skin is sensitive/T-zone.
Amarte BB cream ended up going back to the store. It gave my skin a very annoying sheen, that silicone-based products leave, that even blotting papers cannot take away. It also made every pore, and every textural imperfection more pronounced, despite making my skin color even and very attractive. Back to SUKI tinted moisturizer, combined with ELTA ultra clear sun block w niacinamide - love it.
