An Rx for Dry, Aging, Eczema-prone Skin

Each month I select one of the many regimen requests I receive to write up a "Marta’s RX" that may be useful for others. This one is based on an email from Cheryl:

“I've been over your website quite a lot and am totally boggled with what products to use. I have open pores, extremely dry skin, eczema, broken blood vessels, and more wrinkles than I know what to do with (besides seeing if they can hold quarters - the answer is not quite yet).  I'm looking for a product regimen to use day and night that would include anti-aging serum(s), wrinkle control and reduction, moisturizers for day and night, eye cream, and anything else that may be needed. “

Given the eczema and broken veins, my starting point is a product by Medik8 called Red Alert ($60 in the shop). This extremely targeted formula has just one active ingredient that is cutting edge and remains quite rare called teprenone. Over time it will help with broken veins and, more immediately will reduce redness and soothe the skin. It would also be a good idea to select the companion Red Alert Cleanse ($42 in the shop).

Open pores are generally treated with alpha hydroxy acids, an approach that can be very effective but requires caution for those with a tendency to eczema. Dr. Dennis Gross has an Ultra Gentle version of his daily peels ($88 in the shop). An even gentler option is SkinVeda’s Tulsi Pore Refiner ($68 in the shop).

A good serum would be Skin 2 Skin Aging Intervention ($69 in the shop). This line was created with troubled skin in mind and this particular product is very healing as well as good for wrinkles.

In Cheryl’s case, there is the added complication of skin that is very dry. A rich moisturizer can be layered over the serum and certainly used at night. I immediately thought of KERACELL Liquid Gold Enriching Elixir ($160 in the shop), non-greasy, amazingly soothing and gives the skin a dewy radiance. The botanical oils should be very beneficial for Cheryl’s other skin issues.

A good all-round, do it all eye serum and a long-time bestseller is Your Best Face Correct ($150) that will help with crepey eye-area skin, under eye circles and firmness.

Foderma serum Cleared up very random eczema break out in about 4 days! I hadn't had an outbreak of eczema in 25 years, I didn't know what to do! This product is definitely worth the money!
