Being a full-time student, interning, and working in retail can really take a toll on my skin. I’ve actually begun to notice some fine lines under my eyes due to my lack of sleep. Arcona’s Eye Dew ($32), a serum designed for daily use (ideal for wearing under makeup), couldn’t have come at a better time. I was pretty excited to test it out!
It is important to note that a little bit of this product goes a long way; a single pump is enough for both eyes. Use too much, and the eye area will feel sticky throughout the entire day. Normally, I don’t use an eye serum, but I must say this was a wonderful product to start with. It is a lightweight, gentle product that did not irritate my eyes – even if I rubbed them. Applying eye makeup over it was simple, and the serum did not cause my makeup to run.
Eye Dew is marketed as a preventative product. It uses sodium hyaluronate and shea butter to prevent the deepening of fine lines and wrinkles. I do feel that Eye Dew was effective as a preventative product for fine lines.
While they sound like they could be the same thing, sodium hyaluronate differs from hyaluronic acid, which is an important component of cartilage and skin and is often used in injectable skin fillers. Sodium hyaluronate is the salt of hyaluronic acid. According to this article on TIA: when applied topically, it can “reach deep down into the dermis to combine with, maintain, and attract water. It also promotes skin/blood microcirculation and nutrient absorption, and helps maintain normal metabolism. Thanks to its super-sized hydrating properties, sodium hyaluronate will result in smoother, softer skin with decreased wrinkles and an all-around fuller appearance.”
Arcona’s Eye Dew is a highly beneficial product that I do recommend. It is perfect for those who are new to using a serum, or are simply looking for a new serum to try!
