While the Arcona Raspberry Resurfacing Peel ($68) doesn’t blow me away, it has some good qualities that shouldn’t be overlooked. My disclaimer: I don’t have anything negative to say about this product. This peel claims to do a lot for our skin; I’m not sure whether it has done all that it claims to do, but there were some positive results for me.

First of all, it has a nice fruity smell – mango perhaps (it is the second ingredient listed). I can’t imagine why it’s not called the Mango Resurfacing Peel. Mangos are rich in vitamin A, a good source for reducing blemishes, scars and repairing damaged skin. While it didn’t get rid of my scars and blemishes, it also didn’t flare up my existing breakout, despite the warning that I might experience some tingling when first applied. This is a pretty big positive as my skin tends to be super sensitive, even to salicylic acid.

The rest of the ingredients list includes many fruit extracts and green tea, which most likely help to “exfoliate, hydrate, and oxygenate skin to improve circulation,” as the product claims. I’m sure they also work as antioxidants for the skin and help to decrease inflammation. Raspberry, namesake of the product, is known to help calm your skin, which I believe it has done for my skin.

I liked the feel of my skin after using this product; it didn’t get that pulled, dry feeling that I’ve experienced with other products. Immediately after rinsing my face, I noticed that my pores were smaller, especially around my nose where it’s most noticeable. Therefore, I do think that this peel follows through with its claim to remove impurities and shrink pores.

In retrospect, having had to sit down to analyze what I really think about the Arcona Raspberry Resurfacing Peel, I have to admit that I do in fact like this product, and it may become one of my keepers.
