I was mailed a jar of Astara Antioxidant Light Moisturizer ($39) and began the trial in mid-January. I live in northern Michigan where the winter season causes my skin to be extremely dry and find it difficult to use any product other than a deep moisturizing cream, day or night. I was hesitant to use a “light moisturizer” as part of my nightly skincare regime, but decided to give it a shot and see if my 34-year-old skin would be sufficiently protected.

The company uses all organic, natural ingredients which is a perk, but the approximate price of $39 is more than I typically spend on a daily moisturizer. Only time would tell if the cost would be justified in the end result. The essential oils like orange, sandalwood and evening primrose give the moisturizer a mild, fragrant scent which I prefer to any type of overly powerful odors.

I found the texture of the moisturizer to be slightly gel-like, but once applied it absorbed quickly and felt smooth. I started using the product every morning and enjoyed the glow and radiance I experienced, but was discouraged that there is not any SPF protection other than what the natural oils provide. The coverage was adequate, but I would think the moisturizer would benefit a person with oilier skin. After two evenings of attempting to solely use Astara, I had to add a richer cream to my routine for overnight moisture prior to bedtime.

Overall, I’ve appreciated how radiant my skin looks and feels after using Astara Antioxidant Light Moisturizer. I would like to incorporate this product into my skin care collection and use it again in springtime when my skin needs are somewhat more relaxed and my skin is not as “thirsty”. I consider this a great addition to a daytime regimen and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a lighter moisturizer.
