Within the past year, my skin has drastically changed. As a teenager and young twenty-something, I struggled with oily skin and was prone to break outs. As I reach the last year of my mid-twenties, my skin has become dry and flaky, particularly on my cheeks, chin, and forehead. I've been totally confused about how to deal with my new dry skin. All my friends know that I am addicted to being moisturized; I carry lotion and multiple chap-sticks with me everywhere I go. So you can imagine how my newly developed dry skin has driven me nuts.

I tried the 100% natural Aubrey Everyday Basics Moisturizer ($9.95) in hopes of curing the flaky mess that had become my face. I am (mostly) cured!

One of the most important things for me is how any moisturizer feels during the application. This moisturizer goes on silky smooth, almost watery, and seeps right into the pores fairly quickly. Only about two rubs on the face, and it's good to go. Importantly, it is not oily at all. Perhaps a lingering effect of my teenage skin, but nothing bothers me more than oily moisturizer. My only application complaint is that one pump produces way too much moisturizer, and it is difficult to guess the precise amount of pressure to pump out a suitable amount of moisturizer. It took me at least a week perfect the lighter pump, but I still occasionally pump out a huge blob that goes to waste.

Nevertheless, its smooth application passed the first test. I began to use the Aubrey moisturizer as part of my daily skin regimen. Every time I washed my face (every morning, and usually every night before bed), I followed with a moisturizer application. I even took it with me on vacation 10 days! It quickly replaced my Clinque moisturizer (which I once loved, but grew to hate once my skin turned dry as can be).

After about 6 weeks of use, my skin is definitely not as dry as before. However, I do still suffer the occasional dry flakes on my lower cheek or chin. The flakes certainly encompass a much smaller area of my face now, and my skin has become much more manageable. No need to slather Vaseline on every night in hopes of a miracle!

While I have not found an absolute cure yet, the Aubrey Everyday Basics Moisturizer will definitely be part of my skin regime in the future. I do note, however, that my trial of this product was during the summer months. My skin is generally at its driest in the winter, and I have no idea how the product will hold up in the brisk NY winter wind. I am optimistic that months of pre-winter hydration will pay off and I can continue to use the product year-round.
