I’m very fair – a classic case for which people need to use sunglasses to look directly at my legs; alternatively, I could be called porcelain. No matter how much I tried to naturally tan my legs in the past, I just don’t have much melanin in them and they never get remotely tan. As such, I’ve tried a number of self-tanners and ended up looking orange, streaked and completely fake. I was almost too scared to try a self-tanner again, but I’m so glad I did as Beautisol Summer Glow Body Self-Tanner ($34) is an amazing tanning lotion! I did not turn orange, streaky or have the product wipe off the color on my clothes and sheets. The best thing about this product is that it looks natural and you don’t have to be an expert to apply it and still look great

Beautisol Summer Glow Body Self-Tanner might appear really dark in the Dark Tan shade, but it can be used on the fairest of skin. The first application will give you a nice light tan and you can repeat the application to get as dark as you would like to be. It does not streak. I’m actually baffled by this because I’m not great at applying self-tanner. I did follow the instructions and use the application mitt, so I’m not sure if it is the product or the mitt, but I was really pleasantly surprised

In my opinion, the only downside is the scent. Some may find it pleasant, but I’m not a fan. Beautisol claims that the “pure scent technology eliminates processing smell up to 70%.” Having tried many self-tanners and undergoing professional spray tans, I can say that Beautisol has indeed done something to make it smell less strong and nicer. I would still prefer a completely odorless product, which it is not.

Here are some tips to make this a great experience:

- Follow the instructions Beautisol supplies as they are very helpful.

- Put Beautisol Summer Glow Body Self-Tanner on the night before you go to the beach, pool or just want to look tan.

- Be careful when applying the product and make sure it dries before putting on clothes. (I wore yoga pants to bed as they are long, black and not too tight).

- If you accidently put too much product somewhere, after it dries you can rub it off a bit and it will blend into the rest of your tan. I needed to do this around my feet and ankles as I’m not very talented in applying self-tanner.

The product comes with an application guide, mitt and two pairs of application gloves. Vitamin E, jojoba oil, and safflower oil condition and soften your skin, while DHA creates a deep, golden brown tan within hours of application.

As we all know, it’s preferable to pre-tan (i.e. use a tanning product) rather than go into the sun. You save yourself skin damage, wrinkles and, worst of all, the potential for skin cancer.

Beautisol Summer Glow Body Self-Tanner is by far the best self-tanning product I have ever used. In fact, I didn't know tanning could be this easy. All in all, when testing a product, my litmus test is – would you buy it? Was there value in it? I can positively answer – yes!

I am so glad you reviewed this self-tanner and loved it as much as I do!! It has been my favorite, GO-TO self-tanner for a couple of years now! Totally obsessed with it! I actually love the smell - it's like fresh linen! I have never had more compliments about my tan than when I use Beautisol! Thanks for reviewing!

Thanks Lynn for your review. Now I am anxious to buy some since I've yet to find a self-tanner that doesn't turn my pale skin orange. I avoid the sun and never go out without sunscreen since I'm prone to skin cancer (basal and squamous) but I do miss having color on my stark white skin. I was hesitant to try another self tanner only to use it once and find out it doesn't live up to its promise not to turn you orange. Thanks so much for giving this a try!!
