The right cleanser

A cleanser is a treatment in its own right, and is quite possibly the most important element of any beauty regimen. A proper cleanser is critical for treating your pores well. Opt for natural soaps and cleansing gels sans sulfates for clean, happy skin.

Josh Rosebrook Moisturizing Cleanser ($27) uses an aloe-based gel alongside African black soap. Oilier skin types might opt for Snowberry’s Gentle Remineralising Toner ($53), packed with botanical antioxidants.

Red Flower Lymphatic Phytopower Sea Cleanser and Masque ($42 in the shop)
ReLuma Cleanser ($35 in the shop)

A gentle power brush
Powered facial brushes are Marta's most indispensable tool. While facial brushes help remove dead skin cells, keeping pores unclogged and breakouts at bay, power brushes amp up this effect while still being gentle to skin.

The Ultra Clear Facial Cleansing System ($86), with 1800 microvibrations per second, proves to be an effective cleanser and gentle enough for mature, thinning skin.

A weekly glycolic treatment
Glycolic acid is regarded by skincare professionals as one of the breakthrough ingredients of the last 20 years. It is a type of alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) naturally found in sugar cane. As the AHA with the smallest molecule and the greatest penetration, glycolic acid is a deep exfoliant that removes dry, coarse, and dead skin. It is essential for kick-starting a serious anti-aging skin regimen.

La Vie Celeste Exfoliating Gel Mask ($60 in the shop) contains a 5% concentration of glycolic acid in a soothing base of organic aloe, leaving skin dewy and glowing.

Also try:
Lather 10-Minute Brightening Mask with Glycolic Acid ($28)
Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel: Sensitive

A vitamin C anti-ager
Both Marta and Dr. Oz agree -- vitamin C can “drop a decade from your face.” There have been huge advances in the formulation of vitamin C that are stable, gentle, and powerful. E’shee’s Vitalizing C Serum ($119) contains a powerful 20% vitamin C that remains active in the skin for up to 48 hours. Even sensitive skin can benefit from this non-irritating formula.

Also try:
Your Best Face Advanced CE Concentrate ($50 in the shop)
Snowberry Bright Defence Face Serum ($69)

Universal LED
LED is an anti-aging breakthrough that helps a number of skin concerns, and is possibly one of the most universal anti-aging technologies. Whether you're looking to calm rosacea, repair wrinkles, plump the skin, treat breakouts, brighten up dark spots, or target broken veins, an at-home LED device is a definite must-have.

Quasar Clear Rayz ($249) incorporates both red and blue LED to help fight wrinkles and inflammation (red) and blue to keep breakouts at bay.

Also try:
Facial Secret ($330)
Ultra Renew Plus ($159)

Repair with growth factors
When asked if anything really works, Marta recommends products with growth factors. These powerful anti-agers are the key actives in some of the best serums on the market. Growth factors are naturally occurring proteins that stimulate cells to multiply and differentiate themselves from other cells. Growth factors can specialize in many different things, and often can act as wound healers.

AQ Skin Solutions Active Serum ($149 in the shop) contains a concentrated blend (42%) of the same growth factor proteins found in young, healthy skin, plus antioxidant vitamins that stimulate collagen production. The growth factor technology helps repair damage that has accumulated over the years, including wrinkles and dark spots, and is considered to be one of the best anti-aging serums to date.

Also try:
Skin Nutrition Cell CPR ($170)
E’shee Cellular Repair Serum ($179 in the shop)
