I had seen the BeFine brand in the local drugstore, but had never tried the brand. So I was excited when provided the opportunity to review BeFine's Eye Blossom - Miracle Eye Serum with Cucumber and Flax Seed Oil ($27.50). I liked that it claimed to be Natural and Paraben Free. However, I was somewhat skeptical with the claims on the front of the box which promised to "erase dark circles" and "see instant results".
The box contains four "blossoms" - small plastic tubes which each contain a week's worth of product. It is supposed to be used each morning and evening. I liked that each tube was reclosable, so the product stays fresh. Even though it is called a serum, the product was white, creamy, and the consistency of a lotion.
I started using the product under my left eye. I did not use it under my right eye because I wanted to be able to compare results between my eyes to see if the product truly worked. Although I do not have a major or huge problem with dark circles any more than the average person, I am fair-skinned which makes any discoloration more noticeable. I wanted to see if this product would work well enough so that I would no longer need to use under-eye concealer.
I liked that the serum/lotion was easily absorbed. Immediately after using, I noticed a slight sheen where I had placed the product. It was shear with a little shine. That helped with brightening.
However, I had a very unpleasant surprise on the twelfth day of using this eye product. When I want to apply it in the morning, I noticed I had developed a small red dot right in the middle of the darkest part of the "dark circle" I had been treating with this product! I had never had this reaction to an eye product before. It was not like an allergic reaction, but one small red dot. In addition, the dot was only under the left eye, the one I had been using this product on. I was very concerned that the red dot would not go away and that perhaps now I had only made the area under my eyes more noticeable!
I immediately stopped using the product. Fortunately, the red dot was lighter the next day and by the second day it had disappeared. What a relief! Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this product. There was nothing on or inside the product's box which mentioned this (or any other) possible reaction. When I searched online, I found that other/different eye products had caused similar reactions in other people. Other websites mention that even things such as coughing or crying can cause red dots to appear under our eyes. For me, it is not worth taking the risk. I did not want to try to solve one problem and create another. At this point, I am just happy the red dot disappeared. Using a concealer and getting more sleep seem like easier and safer options to diminish dark circles.
