I have been testing an eye cream that makes me smile!  The brand, Bello Moi, is not a company I’ve heard of before, even though their products are made in the USA.  The company promises natural products that are both mild and effective.  The eye cream, Bello Moi iRestore Creme ($79), reports an impressive list of botanicals and natural oils that have a good skin care reputation, hyaluronic acid to moisturize and a mild retinol to help with skin cell turnover and absorption of actives. But wait, there’s more!  iRestore has a peptide combination of Palmitoyl Oligopeptide and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7.  I found out after a little research that this is a newer combination that is sometimes known as Matrixyl 3000, The peptide combo has not been tested as much as regular Matrixyl, a different peptide marketed by the same company, but in theory should work “synergistically” by combining a peptide that stimulates collagen production (Palmitoyl Oligopeptide) with an inflammation taming one (Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7).

The real question is “Does the product perform?” I decided to use iRestore twice a day around my right eye and my usual every day eye cream, another mostly natural, peptide-containing cream, around the left.  I liked the consistency of iRestore — very creamy with an almost velvety slip.  It felt significantly richer than my usual cream without feeling oily or heavy, and absorbed immediately. I could detect no odor or perfume, and only the tiniest bit of cream was needed to moisturize effectively.

My skin is over 50, and I don’t like the dark circles and loose skin under my eyes. For the past month, I have not noticed a significant difference in my eyes when I look in the mirror. Just to make sure, I just peeked in a hand mirror I keep in my desk drawer.  At first glance, my eyes looked about the same, but when I smiled to check expression lines, there really were less deep crinkles on the iRestore side!  Underneath, the right eye is a little less puffy, as well.  Hooray — we may have a winner!

I believe this is the first product I have tried with an outcome better than simply  feeling nice and moisturizing well.  I may very well buy iRestore (or maybe Bello Moi’s eye serum, iFirming) after I finish my sample container. iRestore is a little expensive but is so rich it will go a long way, and the full-size product contains a full ounce (30 ml), which is almost unheard of in an eye cream.
