I have always been a fan of vinotherapie, and the most prominent brand to utilize it is Caudalie. I was happy to try their spa at Frank Gehry-designed Marque De Riscal in Rioja, Spain and—just recently—at the Plaza hotel here in New York City. The new Premiere Cru facial (a two-hour facial!) was decadent and essentially highlighted the new Caudalie product: Premier Cru.

The Premier Cru is Caudalie's latest anti-aging product. The benefits include regenerating, smoothing and firming, addressing all signs of aging, like wrinkles, dark spots, oxidation and dryness.  I was curious to try it out for the sake of its quick popularity in the beauty industry. The Premier Cru is inspired by Bordeaux's finest wines (grapes are awesome for the skin!) and features a powerhouse of its best patents, which work as the active ingredients: resveratrol, viniferine and grape seed polyphenols.

Here's the skinny on the patents in a nut (or grape?) shell:

Grape seed polyphenols (or OPCs) protect the skin from premature aging caused by UV rays and environmental factors by forming a shield against free radicals. They basically reinforce capillaries and boost microcirculation, helping preserve hyaluronic acid in the skin.

Resveratrol stimulates sirtuins, increasing the lifespan of skin cells and smoothing wrinkles from the inside. It was also recently recognized by Harvard Medical School as one of the best anti-aging molecules available. Viniferine regulates the production of malanin and protects melanocytes form free radicals (helps prevent dark spots). It's derived from Sauvignon Blanc vine stalks.

This is truly an anti-aging powerhouse. Look through the ingredients list and there are also peptides, which help in the battle against aging. But the other great factor about the Premier Cru is that it's formulated without parabens, snythentic dyes, petrochemicals, GMOs or triclosan.

The Premier Cru goes on smooth and, as you would suspect, has a great grape fragrant. I like the 3-in-1 idea of active ingredients working on the anti-aging while other ingredients help with nourishing, radiating and keeping a general nice appearance to the skin. www.caudalie.com
