Clinique M Protect SPF 21

Is a Solution for:
Sun Protection for Face

I see Clinique for men everywhere I go (kudos to their marketing team) and, quite frankly, I was never drawn to the brand. I think it was my affinity to organic-based products that kept me overlooking Clinique. However, the last time I was at Sephora, I couldn't help but notice that Clinique offered a daily moisturizer with SPF 21, an odd number when other brands offer SPF 10 or 15. I decided to give the M Protect SPF 21 a shot.

When I look for daily moisturizers, I always make sure it has SPF at any amount. Even during the winter time when it's pretty gray outside, there's still some sun (no joke!). I was happy to discover the Clinique M Protect SPF 21, which does help hydrate your skin and is protection from the sun at a surprisingly average price for this brand ($22). When applied, it absorbs faster than I can type this sentence and isn't as sticky as some of the SPFs out there. The reason for this is simple: based upon the ingredients in the product, the SPF stops at 21 because if it was any higher, it would completely alter the consistency (more "goopedy," if that's even a word). This makes it quite smooth and evenly distributed.

If you really want to break down the potential of the sunblock, octinoxate does slightly degrade (especially with oxybenzone). Combining with the two other sunblocks helps counteract the degradation. So I like to think of it as M Protect SPF 18 or 19 instead (which is still better than SPF 10 or 15). There are some great herbal extracts like cucumber and algae, so it's not a complete chemical party. All in all, I found the product stuck on when I needed it to, absorbed fast and, ultimately, did what I needed it to do.
