Sagging Skin

Cover FX is coming up with some great multifunctional products that conceal, prime and repair. Conceal FX Camouflage Concealer (25) is new and, I believe, exclusive to Sephora. While (ironically) far from flawless itself, there are plenty of things to ensure it has the luster of the noble. Well, how many concealers have you found that use Matrixyl 3000. The very same power peptide is also in Cover FX SkinPrep FX Treatment and Priming Serum ($45). If nothing else it confirms this summer's pet theory of mine that the makeup industry has discovered Matrixyl big time (it's in most decent lip products these days).

There was a time when there was nothing in makeup that could be remotely described as good for the skin - indeed most of it is was downright bad and the reason why I mostly gave up war paint for years. Recently, I have been edging carefully towards foundations such as Lorac's, which has antiagers and does me no harm. But Rome wasn't built in a day and I wouldn't expect makeup to have caught up with skincare to be green and caring. Therefore, I am willing to gloss over the mass of silicone in Skinprep FX and land smoothly on vitamins A, C and E, moisturizing sodium hyaluronate, antioxidant ubiquinone. Although it has the fairly nasty phenoxyethanol and bezethonium chloride, it also can boast a relatively benign preservatives dehydroacetic acid and bezoic acid.

When I look at Conceal FX Camoflager, I am if anything even more pleasantly surprised. This has turmeric, adding to the Matrixyl with further antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. And then there seems to be about five different manifestations of ceramide, which help the external layer of skin retain moisture. I once read somewhere that for ceramide to perform properly as a moisturizer, it needs to be mixed with fatty acids and cholesterol and I am pleased to say that Conceal FX conforms to the formula.

Robin, I try to include turmeric in food too. You might be interested to know that it is in Tracie Martyn'a Amla cleanser.

I try to add turmeric to my meals a couple of days every week. It has so many health benefits. This is the first product I've seen with turmeric. What a good idea!
