CV Skinlabs Body Repair Lotion 6.0 oz

Our Rating: 5 stars

CV Skinlabs Body Repair Lotion ($36) boasts that it will sooth irritation from post-laser hair removal and radiation burns. I didn’t have anything quite so dramatic to test it out on, but did have a post-shaving bikini area rash. CV Skinlabs provided almost instant relief and within a couple of hours the ugly red bumps had all but disappeared. A little miracle worker.

This body lotion shouldn’t just be reserved for emergency repair jobs. It does an excellent job of leaving the skin feel soft and supple. It does all of this as a relatively lightweight and totally non-greasy lotion. I should also mention that it is virtually fragrance free.

The is the first product by CV Skinlabs that I have tried as I am impressed by what seems to be – certainly as far as Body Repair Lotion goes – well-formulated and decently priced products. The mostly botanical ingredients include some that are organic. And there’s really nothing nasty lurking.

The line’s signature blend of actives is dubbed Tri-Rescue Skin Complex and is in every one of CV Skinlab’s products. The three ingredients that make this up are turmeric, alpha-bisabolol and reishi mushroom. Alpha-bisabolol is an ingredient that one of my favorite brands, Your Best Face, has been formulating more and more often with and so I’ve been promising myself to find out more about and am doubly spurred now that it crops up as a CV Skinlab favorite. It is a derivative of M. chamomilla (German chamomile), which accelerates the healing process of skin and protects the skin from the effects of daily stress. Alpha bisabolol can also be obtained from a Brazilian tree (unfortunately, one that is under threat). It reduces flaky skin, increases suppleness and is a penetration enhancer. There is also some research indicating that it reduces hyperpigmentation.

Meanwhile, turmeric is also a skin whitener as well as a powerful antioxidant. In a report in Medical News, one company claims that turmeric’s skin whitening potency is four times greater than that of the conventional cosmetic whitener, arbutin. The third ingredient in the complex, reishi mushroom seems to be something that we want in our anti-aging beauty arsenals. With powerful antioxidants, research has shown it may “protect against aging and age-related degenerative diseases.”

Other helpful plant extracts include St John’s Wort oil. This is generally soothing to skin as it contains hypericin, which has anti-inflammatory and nervine (calming) properties. Ginger root acts as a strong anti-inflammation agent to soothe sore skin. It softens skin and has anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties.

I’ve been looking for a good body lotion for winter that is soothing and softening without being too heavy and I think I have just found it with CV Skinlabs Body Repair Lotion.
