Ever heard the saying, “Growing old ain’t for sissies...” or something along those lines? Well, in my humble opinion, it’s true. I, like Marta, am still fighting the good fight to be the best-looking 58-year-old that I can be, and that comes with a price tag. Generally, I tend to covet hair, lashes, and eyebrows over my neck and laugh lines, perhaps because my surgically induced menopause, at 49, eventually cost me a lot in those areas.
When I found TIA and began a campaign to find another type of hair-growth stimulus for my lashes, brows, and scalp, I was eventually directed to ReLuma Hair
($59 in the TIA shop
, which is slow acting, but does give some very promising results over time. I’ve used it on my crown area for most of 2011, and then I was given the opportunity last month to try a new hair-growth product
by CyGenX called ReGenrXx Hair Serum 90
with Penetration Plus Nano-Encapsulating Technology.
I willingly put aside the ReLuma Hair to give this product a try, and I’ve used it for over a full month and I still have a nice bit of the product left. First let me tell you what CyGenX’s website
says about it:
The actives in ReGenrXx are natural human growth factors. Growth factors have been applied topically and used successfully and safely for over a decade to stimulate and encourage wound healing of the skin. These growth factors contribute to the enhancement of hair growth to promote thicker, fuller looking, healthier and more lustrous hair. These same growth factors are most effective when combined with Penetration Plus Nano-Encapsulating Technologies.
ReGenrXx helps to stimulate healthy hair growth and rejuvenate healthy hair follicles, promotes the normal hair growth cycle, contributes to increased blood circulation, and fights hair loss. It acts on the scalp by nourishing the hair follicles, allowing for normal, healthy hair growth and its concentrated specific growth factor combinations nourish healthy hair follicles.
According to its creators, ReGenrXx is designed to fight thinning hair, hair loss, hardening of the scalp, and weak hair. This new technology effectively addresses hair loss at the source: the hair follicles. Over many years, the skin of the scalp produces less growth factors, rendering the scalp less efficient at repairing damage. As a result, the condition of the scalp can eventually deteriorate to the point where it hardens (fibrosis) or hair follicles become miniaturized. In the case of fibrosis, hair is unable to grow through the hardened scalp. Miniaturization renders the hair follicles unable to perform their normal growth cycle. Both conditions can lead to a cessation of hair production and the death of hair follicles.
ReGenrXx has been carefully formulated to nourish the hair follicles of the scalp using growth factors naturally present in healthy, young hair follicles. This unique formulation promotes a normal hair-growth cycle, stimulating thicker, fuller-looking hair. Stem cells lining the hair follicles are crucial for production of hair. The proprietary growth factor technology in ReGenrXx is designed to provide support to the components of the scalp, so hair can grow thicker and healthier. ReGenrXx improves the overall condition of the scalp by nourishing damaged hair follicles and stimulating the circulation of valuable nutrients needed for healthy hair.
That said, I haven’t used this product long enough to rave about its purported attributes and capabilities, but what I can and will say is this: I used it on my frontal hairline and did not necessarily follow the product guidelines, such as washing my hair daily - not happening with my curly/frizzy, salt’n’peppa African American hair! Regardless of that non-action, I am quite happy to report that the area I focused it on is showing great promise.
The fine fuzzy hair you see at my hairline in the photo below is new hair and I’m happy to say that it’s because of the ReGenrXx that it’s there. Also, there was an absence of hair in the frontal center part, and it’s got new growth there as well. I won’t dismiss that ReLuma may have had some stimulus within range, but again, I hadn’t been using ReLuma there, only on my crown, so this is new.
Another positive aspect that I noticed, for which I must give credit to both ReLuma and ReGenrXx, is that while my hair isn’t getting thicker, per se, it is not falling out as much and so appears to be much thicker - a plus for any woman’s hairbrush. My hair is not coming out as much in the shower at all. The progress is visible, and that’s a plus in my book.
I should stress that as with ReLuma, I did experience some itching with ReGenrXx as well, but not to the extent I did with Rogaine.
Am I seeing the same types of results I saw with Rogaine? It’s too soon to tell, but unlike Rogaine, I didn’t lose any hair initially before seeing new growth of fine hair on my hairline, and that is what I am seeing.
Is it the natural growth phase one usually sees? It could be, but I didn’t have any fine hair in this area for a very long time, even with Rogaine. I’d like to continue trying this product for a year alongside ReLuma for Men
with 3% minoxidil sulfate ($59 in the TIA shop
) in a comparison test and see what I end up with. For now, on the short term, I give it kudos and thumbs up and I’ll be willing to try it again if it is comparable in price to the ReLuma.
