An update to yesterday's post, retinol: how to use it, when to use it?

I have just had lunch with Ms T and over eggs, hash browns and a side order of fries (it is a very cold day here in NYC) she told me that she stopped using the retinol after a few days. It made her skin extremely red and sore. Even today, certain facial expressions painfully stretched the inflamed skin.

I also found out that her dermatologist had given her glycolic acid as well. That really seems like overkill.

I must say, I think she made the right decision to stop using it. Or, at the very least, she should rotate it with something less aggressive such as an anti-oxidant.
