Dare to try it: Bella Donna Simply Nectar

Bella Donna's Simply Nectar was an impulse buy. Actually, that's euphemism for a lazy purchase, by which I mean I took only a cursory look at the ingredients and rather hazily concluded that they didn't look too lethal. Meanwhile, the taupe with flattering melon undertones was too much to resist. While waiting for it to arrive, I decided to take a closer look.

There are some good things in the form of vitamin C and jojoba, as well as ceramide 2 to protect from the sun. It doesn't have talc or alcohol and the pigments are mineral. There is one worrisome thing: bismuth oxychloride. This is frequently used to bulk up or bind products and is considered a skin irritant and, in large amounts, can cause cystic acne. It is to be avoided if you have acne, rosacea or sensitive skin. That would be me (although I should remind everyone that I am the original Princess and the Pea and most other folks may be fine). I may be fine as well. Finger's crossed because I've now noticed that bismuth oxychloride is in a great many lipsticks and glosses.
