I am 48 years old and have normal to dry skin. I applied five to six pumps of DesertPea Protective Day Moisturiser ($59.90) onto my skin every morning and evening. The moisturizer sunk into my skin immediately, but with that being said, I felt like it wasn't enough moisture for my skin, especially during the winter. Additionally, my skin would feel sticky a few seconds after application, so I would have to put more on and rub it in quickly before it dried. Since this product absorbed so quickly, I had to supplement it with another cream. If I didn't, my makeup would not go on smoothly. Generally, I didn't see much of a difference in my skin.
I did love the smell of the product, which seemed to linger. I can't really say what the smell was other than that it was similar to essential oils that a spa would use. However, it was strong so if you prefer odorless products, this is not the moisturizer for you. The smell reminded me that it is organic and doesn't smell of any chemicals whatsoever.
I noted that the moisturizer doesn't contain any sunscreen. The main ingredients are vitamin B3 niacinamide, 1% oat beta glucan and .7% hyaluronic acid. These ingredients help with aging skin, fine lines and wrinkles. It's very good for sensitive skin as well as dyspigmentation and irritation. All the other ingredients are natural and pure. The oat beta glucan helps with deep wrinkles, and vitamin C and Australian Kakadu Plum help improve skin texture. This is an Australian skin care line and they are known for using organic fruits oils and flowers that are native to Australia. Some of these products can only be found in Australia.
DesertPea Protective Day Moisturiser comes in a pump bottle. You cannot see how much is left in the bottle so you have no idea when you will run out. Another problem was that the pump on the bottle itself squirts out the moisturizer very fast and sometimes goes everywhere in your palm. It is a light, oil-free moisturizer. I would probably feel very differently if I was to try this product in the summer months when my skin wasn't so dry and in need of so much moisture.
