Dr. Denese Hydroshield Ultra Moisturizing Face Serum- reader reviewed and recommended

Dr. Denese Hydroshield Ultra Moisturizing Face Serum 2.0 oz

It’s the dead of winter and my face is shriveling before my eyes. So, of course, I couldn’t wait to get Dr. Denese’s Hydroshield Ultra Moisturizing Face Serum ($49) on my skin!

As a 40-something year old woman with dry, sensitive skin, this product was made for me. My regular moisturizer just wasn’t getting the job done. After five weeks, my skin is softer and smoother, thanks to Dr. Denese.

This serum is meant to be used twice per day, over the entire face – including the eye area. Once applied, it should penetrate for five to seven minutes until it turns matte. I found that, although my skin was dry, there were times when it just felt too greasy for me and I had to take it off sooner. Plus, seven minutes is a long time to wait, especially for this New York City gal! On the days that I had time and didn’t mind the feel of the product, my foundation went on beautifully.

What I liked most about this product was that it never irritated my super sensitive skin. It really absorbed into my skin and made it look extremely smooth and hydrated. It’s important to note that you should use moisturizer AFTER the serum. There’s virtually no scent, which again, if you have sensitive skin or a sensitive nose, you will appreciate!

The serum contains dimethicone, a silicon-based polymer which helps the product glide onto your skin and forms a protective barrier. Glycine Soja (soybean seed extract) is a natural emollient and moisturizer that helps skin retain moisture while strengthening the skin’s natural barrier.

Overall, I do believe this is a product that I will purchase in the future but only in the winter months.

Ingredients: Dimethicone, Glycine Soja (Soybean Seed Extract), Ceramides, Retinol, Tocopherol, Linoleic Acid, Linolinic Acid, Octyl (Ethylhexyl) Cocoate, Lecithin, Glycolipids, Phenoxyethanol

I am 68 yrs old and I've tried this line a couple of times with no luck. I have combo skin . I was diagnosed with acne rosacea at age 22, so I've been into face care for along time. I wanted this line to work because it was pricey for me, but it sat on top of my skin making me feel very greasy, plus clogged my pores. I didn't want to throw it away so I used it on my neck, chest, arms, and legs with fantastic results.

Hi Beth - great review! Have you ever tried mixing your serum and your moisturizer together? I read about some other people doing this. Also, what moisturizer are you regularly using? Thanks!
