I was thrilled to receive a two-week supply of Dr Dennis Gross' Ferulic + Retinol Wrinkle Recovery Peel. I had been wanting to take the "peel challenge" and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. Because I was on the tail-end of breastfeeding, though, I had to wait until I was completely finished because Retinol is a no-no for pregnant or breastfeeding mamas.

I have some tough sun/melasma spots on my left cheek, so they are my indicator of product efficacy. I used the peels three times per week, the higher end of the recommended usage. The peel pads were individually packaged (not sure if this is true of the full-size product), and upon opening, the smell is that of a medicinal or astringent nature. It wasn't too strong, though, and did not provide any negative reaction.

It is a generously-sized pad, textured on both sides. I would swipe the pad in a circular motion all over my face, to the hairline, down my neck, and even behind my ears. The pad never slipped nor tucked, which I've had happen with other thinner pads of a different make. After approximately two minutes, it seems like the pad was at its end. I never once felt any burning or stinging, thankfully.

Directly following the use of the pad, I did feel like my skin glowed. It felt plumper and perhaps my spots and wrinkles seemed to diminish for just a minute or two. In reality, though, I did not notice much difference to my skin after two weeks. In fact, I had a few small blemishes pop up on my chin and forehead that I can only attribute to the use of the pads since that is unusual for me. Thankfully, I do not have severe wrinkling (yet!), and beyond my sun spots, do not look my 40 years of age.

Even with this in mind, I really enjoyed using the pads, and I do believe that over time I may see better results beyond the short time allotted to me. I would cautiously recommend this product to others with the understanding that two weeks for any new product may not be enough time to see real results.
