I had the opportunity to test Elena Rubin Carpe Diem Day Lotion SPF 28 ($59 in the shop). I am a 52-year-old caucasian woman prone to facial spotting. I live in my facial sunscreen. I spend a moderate amount of time outdoors and drive a convertible with the top down every possible day. I found the Carpe Diem cream to be a lovely product that stands up to the sun’s rays.
I applied this each morning with a few pumps of the dispenser to my freshly washed face. It is a thick cream rather than a runny lotion. You can feel the thickness while applying to your skin and the softening texture allows you to feel where you have applied it. The product does massage in well preventing ending up with a white cast.
This is a physical sunscreen with mineral actives zinc oxide and titanium dioxide for UVA/UVB protection. Other key ingredients include allantoin, which promotes healthy skin formation and allows skin to absorb more moisture, as well as caprlic/capric triglyceride, which increases the skin's ability to absorb active ingredients. There's also squalane, which helps skin hold moisture, and fructooligosaccharides, a sugar-derived ingredient that protects skin from harmful bacteria.
The combination of mineral sunscreens with the moisturizing factors make this a cream to use daily whether you will be in the sun or not. My skin feels soft all day long and never feels like I need an additional dose of moisturizer. It feels good on my sensitive skin and gives my skin no stresses of allergins, dryness, or blocked pores.
