Elena Rubin Primer- reader reviewed and recommended
“To Prep Your Canvas” is the tagline on this bottle of goodness, and I must say it does a good job at doing just that. Elena Rubin’s Primer Hydrating Tonic ($39) is a toner – a lightweight moisturizing toner that you spritz onto your face. Some of the wonderful ingredients are witch hazel, honey and cucumber. Although these ingredients are all very mild, they are effective at doing what the toner claims to do, which is to restore moisture after cleansing and replenish the pH balance in your skin.
I have been using this product in the mornings, right after showering from my workout. I don’t usually wash my face twice a day (I know, I know... I will get judged for that). I find that washing twice a day for me is over-drying for my 20-something dry/combination skin, no matter how gentle the face wash is. I always wash at night and rinse with water in morning. However, I have found the missing link in that routine! This product is the perfect companion. It is so mild and lightweight. I just mist it onto my face, and pat dry. I swear I think it has also calmed down the redness from my intense workout routine, which usually has my face red for an hour or longer. I’m assuming it’s the pH balancing properties that calm my skin down in a much quicker manner.
I must say “To Prep Your Canvas” sums it all up.
