Dry Skin

If you're an athlete or just active, you'll know it's not easy finding an adequate cream that can not only offer great hydration but also specifically target sore muscles on active bodies after a work-out. Well, I finally hit jackpot with all-organic, Epicuren Sports Massage Cream ($28 for 8oz). It truly does the trick and Epicuren has never seemed to fail us here at Truth In Aging.

I have always kept my eyes peeled for a cooling gel that isn't completely overbearing. Many are so jacked up in alcohol and chemicals that it's definitely not skin-friendly, especially after all your pores are open after a work-out. Then there's the problem of hydrating on top of that. Two products in tandem is often too much for the skin and gets quite expensive if you're buying both cooling gel and moisturizer. The Epicuren Sports Massage Cream is sort of a two-birds-one-stone deal by moisturizing with awesome ingredients and soothing tired muscles. I'm aware that it's actually a massage cream but hey, whatever works, right?

I recently wrote about Naturopathica's Muscle Cooling Gel, which is still a great product, but what makes Epicuren Sports Massage Cream different is that it's obviously a cream and has more ingredients to hydrate and moisturize.

The key ingredients to offer that soothing cool is eucalyptus and menthol and, I must say, it feels fantastic on the body, attacking that inflammation in a way that is nothing but blissful. It's not too overwhelming (some cooling gels are just so damn cold!) and is very subtle while still invigorating.

The herb arnica is a wonder for muscle soreness and aches and works as a great anti-inflammatory as well. Some great oils enhance the overall scent, like juniper and clove (which I find masculine). Horse chestnut is also great for soothing. The aloe, vitamin E and shea butter are great for moisturizing.

If you can find someone to rub you down with Epicuren Sports Massage Cream, you are a lucky man. Looking at the ingredients, it's nicely designed to assist in muscle relaxation while you're having a massage, so it helps further alleviate that tension.
