A rich moisturizer that hydrates, strengthens and smooths

Pros

Serious peptides

Cons

Inclusion of retinyl palmitate

Call me eccentric, but if I really want to put a moisturizer through its paces, I do the finger nail test. The new cream from Expürtise, the Effective Anti-Aging Rich Moisturizer ($95 in the shop) passed the test with flying colors.

So what is the finger nail test? Well, my nails can get very dry and even start to ridge and so I often use a dab of whatever moisturizer I have on hand to keep them hydrated and prevent breakage. After just a few days, Expürtise Effective Anti-Aging Rich Moisturizer not only made my nails pink and shiny, but my nails grew more rapidly. They became so strong that my nail clippers were barely up to the job. I was amazed.

You are probably curious about more conventional results. Yes, I have been using Rich Moisturizer on my face, neck and backs of hands for 30 days and this is a great product. I didn’t expect to be as impressed by it as I have been, but this is a really well-balanced formula that does three things very well: plumping of fine lines, retexturizing, and, of course, hydration.

On every application, my skin feels instantly more supple and looks more glowing. I am not a slatherer and certainly a little goes a long way. The point is that used carefully there is absolutely no pilling under makeup and my foundation (a lightweight Bobbi Brown) goes on easily.  After a couple of weeks, I began to notice that my skin looked more glowing and fine smile lines were smoother and plumper.

The formula goes way beyond hydration with a fistful of peptides, including the neuropeptides that help inhibit expression lines. Particularly notable is a new member of the Matrixyl family, Matrixyl Morphomics. This is a new lipopeptide (palmitoyl tripeptide-56) and it is supposed to work on vertical lines – labonasial folds, marionette and frown lines.

Skin resurfacing is thanks to retinol. This is in the form of retinyl palmitate (not my favorite as it may be phytotoxic) and (much better) bakuchiol, which has the benefits of retinol, without the typical side effects such as drying and irritation. RP is the only thing to raise eyebrows in what is otherwise a botanical and active packed, non-toxic product.

A couple more product notes…. Pot-phobes will be happy that this rich moisturizer is in a tube. The rest of us will be happy that the tube is well-behaved. The white cream is a medium, not heavy weight. The scent is a pleasant a refreshingly zesty tangerine.

I’m always being asked if I can recommend a rich moisturizer with anti-aging benefits and now I wholeheartedly can.
