I was very much reminded after trying the new Effective Anti-Aging Selfie Mask ($46 in the shop) that ExPürtise is a brand that primarily makes its products for professional estheticians. The initial experience is the silky, smooth and cooling texture. It’s like a humble clay mask elevated to a spa session. Selfie Mask quickly dries as a typical clay mask does to a layer of crusty mud and then rinses away to reveal skin that, while not magically transformed to selfie ready, does appear clean, clear and radiant.
Using it a couple of times a week, I definitely felt that I was absorbing some nice botanical ingredients. As always with ExPürtise, there is nothing to dislike in the formula as the ingredients are overwhelmingly natural and organic — even the preservative is a safe one derived from radish root.
There are also loads of natural antioxidants, and the cocktail of vitamins (notably C, B5 and E) and plant extracts are given an anti-aging boost with a peptide that inhibits expression lines and hyaluronic acid. Notable amongst the brightening botanicals are uva-ursi, a variety of bearberry and a known skin whitener due to the presence of arbutin, blueberry and licorice.
An extremely welcome find is corrallina officinalis. This is a form of red (well, actually pinkish) seaweed that you don’t see all that often. One of its benefits is that it helps capillaries contract and so may help to reduce broken veins. According to the company that makes the extract, it also increases cellular cohesion and oxygenation.
Selfie Mask is a good choice for anyone — and any skin type — looking for a good quality mask with some instant gratification, some longer term benefits and absolutely no compromising ingredients.
