Five Best for Expression Lines 2017

October 31, 2017 Reviewed by Marta 0 Comments

Exactly one year ago I made my first ever Five Best recommendations for expression lines. I am excited to say that since then even better discoveries have been made that have become firm community favorites. Expression lines are wrinkles that benefit from special treatment as they are the result of complex muscular and synapse activity and this comes in the form of neuropeptides.

To keep it simple, muscles move when neurotransmitters send them signals. Three proteins, called the SNARE complex, are essential for the final stages of this process, which is known as exocytosis. Various neuropeptides have made their way into anti-aging formulations and intervene in this process to inhibit expression lines.

Here are the Five Best for 2017 that do just that.

  • ClarityRX Get Fit Serum

ClarityRX Get Fit Serum ($105.75 in the shop). A year ago, I selected Get Fit as a Five Best saying I was on my second bottle. Now I’ve lost count. Suffice it to say, I’m a repeat buyer. Regular use continues to keep my expression lines at bay. This potent formula has four different neuropeptides Argireline, Syn-ake, pentapeptide-18 and SNAP-8. The two other peptides in the formula are collagen-boosting ones known as Matrixyl 3000. There’s hyaluronic acid and that’s about it. ClarityRX boasts that it formulates without extenders, fillers or bulking ingredients and Get Fit is a great example.

  • Simply Venom Night Cream

Simply Venom Night Cream ($69 in the shop). Created by two anesthesiologists to deliver similar effects of medical-grade injectables — sans the pricks or risks —. The proprietary technology, SYNOX-MD, features a liposomal delivery system with a combination of tripeptide actives. Homeostatine (from marine algae and the Andean tree) increases skin elasticity and boosts moisture.

  • Ao Skincare Restore Serum

Ao Skincare Restore Serum ($119.95 in the shop). The expression-line reducer here is acetyl octapeptide-3, an elongation of Argireline that is supposed to work more effectively at blocking the SNARE complex. I like that it is formulated alongside copper peptides (Ao Restore was a 2016 Five Best with copper peptides), tripeptide-1 and antioxidant-rich ferulic acid and spin traps. As well as controlling those pesky expression lines, it imparts a dewy glow.

  • BRAD Biophotonic Ultra Elastin Sculpting Firming Cream Complex

BRAD Biophotonic Ultra Elastin Sculpting Firming Cream Complex .Two peptides reduce expression lines in this super-charged formula, including dipeptide diaminobutyrolyl benzylamide diacetate that goes by the name of Sy-Nake and works by reducing sodium (Na+) uptake to relax the muscle contraction and soften wrinkle formation. It multitasks due to a patented multi-vitamin C complex to prevent hyperpigmentation along with a blend of glycolic and lactic acid bio-ferments.

  • Deciem NIOD Fractionated Eye Contour Concentrate

Deciem NIOD Fractionated Eye Contour Concentrate ($68). An eye serum that takes on crow’s feet with several neuropeptides for softening those expression lines including dipeptide diaminobutyroyl benzylamide diacetate. Deciem employs what it calls “drone technology”, a delivery agent that helps the peptides get to where they need to be to have the most effect.
