Folligen Hair and Scalp Cream- how to use for eyelash growth

Is a Solution for:
Eyelashes & Brows, Thinning Hair & Shedding

A number of readers have written in asking how to apply Folligen to their eyelashes- A clever question since nowhere on Folligen's instructions does it indicate that this bright blue potion can double as an eyelash growth product. Skin Biology's Folligen cream is intended for use on the scalp, where its copper peptides make the hair follicles grow in strong and thick. But thanks to a tip from a reader, Marta discovered that the product's effectiveness at restoring sparse patches of hair extends to the eye area as well.

If your eyelashes or eyebrows could use some filling in, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better buy than Folligen. Not only does a little go a very long way, but it has so many uses and is far more natural than many traditional remedies. Instead of the glaucoma drug called prostaglandins (found in most eyelash growth products on the market today) or dihydrotestosteone (found in most hair growth treatments), Folligen uses copper peptides. This active ingredient triggers hair growth by stimulating the capillaries to help follicles switch from the dormant telogen phase into the hair-growing anagen phase.

Using Folligen on your scalp is self-explanatory. All it takes is a dollop rubbed into your hairline or patch of thinning hair. To apply Folligen to your eyebrows, dip your pinkie or a Q-tip in the mouth of the bottle until it is coated in blue liquid. Then, trace a precise line where you are pining for a bushier brow. Getting Folligen to elongate your eyelashes is a trickier task, best explained in Marta's video. A quick disclaimer: more liquid does not lead to longer lashes. If you use Folligen sparingly, just as you would a liquid eyeliner, you should experience no irritation and gradual lash growth.

Ingredients in Folligen cream:

Purified water, squalane, octyl palmitate, PEG-100 stearate (glycerol stearate + PEG-100 stearate), cetyl alcohol, copper peptides (hydrolyzed soy protein and copper chloride), stearic acid, saw palmetto oil, allantoin, polypropylene glycol, diazolinydinyl urea, methylparaben, propylparaben, herbal fragrance, tocopheryl acetate, retinyl palmitate, ergocalciferol

Thanks for the reply Marta! I think I might stop for a while and see what happens. If my eyelashes stop falling out, then I will quit using folligen all together. If they continue to shed....well I'm not quite sure as to what I should do to stop it. Maybe try another product??

Hi Beth, sorry to hear this. The eyebrow growth cycle is over two months, so try to stick with it But your eyelashes should have gone through a full growth cycle - 4/6 weeks - so if you think they look worse then perhaps you should stop using it on your eyelashes. I have heard that some people experience lashes falling out with eyelash growth products (including the ones with prostaglandins), but I don't know why this should be. Some people say they do grow back and eventually they get longer lashes.

I have been using folligen on my eyelashes and eyebrows for a about 7 weeks now. Good news is my eyebrows, it seems, are starting to thicken slightly, but not enough to marvel at unfortunately. Bad news is my eyelashes haven't changed for the better at fact they are shorter and FALLING OUT!! They look worse then they did when I started :(( Any suggestions? I am at a complete loss.

Yeay Linda! That's such good news. Folligen does seem to take a few weeks, but it does kick in. And you can't quibble with the price. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

I was using Lilash when I read your post on Folligen Hair and Scalp cream. Yes Lilash works and while I had no obvious side effects as soon as I stopped using it most of my eye lashes fell out.. So I purchased some Folligen. Now after about 4 weeks, I have long strong and thick eye lashes.. The differences are subtle to begin with and you dont see much day to day difference.. But persist and you will be happy with the results. Now I dont use it every day and I still have all my eyelashes...Great product and such great value. It will last for years.. thanks Martha your a gem..

GREAT job, Laura...and I must say, I'm awfully jealous of how tight and wrinkle-free your eye area is! Thanks for the slide show. It is a big help.

I cannot believe how inexpensive this product is!! Also, I make really goofy faces...
But, after modeling for this shoot I will probably go out and make this my next purchase, beauty-wise. I've been interested in pumping up my eyebrows lately. Emma Watson from Harry Potter's got me inspired.
