I only recently discovered Afterglow Cosmetics, an organic mineral makeup line. Darn, I always seem to be one step behind Johnny Depp and Marion Cotillard, who are apparently fans. For mineral makeup lovers the Glow Kit ($74) makes a great gift or a personal introduction to this relatively new brand.
Afterglow Cosmetics was created by Kristin Adams, who was (with good reason) tired of so-called mineral brands that mix talc and mineral oils in with a dash of mica. Afterglow uses genuine minerals and organic botanicals.
In the case of the foundation, mica and titanium dioxide are accompanied by iron oxide pigments. Organic grape seed extract adds a touch of antioxidant. New to me was inulin, which turns out to be a naturally occurring polysaccharide that is used as an emulsifier in cosmetics.
Each kit contains two Organic Mineral Foundations, one Organic Mineral Blush, one Organic Setting Powder , a Baby Kabuki Brush (vegan), and a Concealer Brush (vegan).
Ingredients in Organic Mineral Foundation
Mica, titanium dioxide (77891), iron oxide (77491, 77492, 77499), citrus grandis (organic grapefruit) extract*, rosmarinus officinalis (organic rosemary) extract*, inulin, vitis vinifera (organic grape) seed extract*, simmondsia chinensis (organic jojoba) extract* *certified organic.
