I have fine hair and have made it my life long mission to try any and every hair product that promises to add any kind of volume to my flat, lifeless hair.  I had been using a shampoo and conditioner suggested by my hairdresser that I had been quite happy with until I read the list of ingredients!  Yikes, lots of nasty stuff in there, so I was delighted when given the opportunity to test Root 66 Max Volume Shampoo by Giovanni Organics with zero sulfates.

I was surprised when the box arrived and I opened it to find a full 8.5 oz bottle and not the small sample size I was expecting. When I first opened the bottle, I was a little put off by the smell, it wasn’t so much that it smelt bad or had a strong odor it just was a little different smelling.  I do have to say that after a couple of times using this product, I no longer notice any smell to it at all. What I do notice is what it does to my hair.

I love, love, love this shampoo! It not only makes my hair look and feel fuller, but since starting to use this product three weeks ago (I wash my hair everyday) I don’t think my hair has looked better. I never thought I would use the term bouncy to describe my lank locks, but the other morning, I lathered up once and then followed the directions to “repeat for maximum volume”. I then put some velcro rollers in my hair for a few minutes as I put on my makeup, and yes my hair was actually bouncy. This may just be the best shampoo I have ever used and I am anxious to try the Root 66 Conditioner and Root Lift as well.  Please where can I buy these products? (Marta adds: we tracked them down at Amazon and have added the links below).

i expected great things from this shampoo. plus it's cheap, cheapest at vitacost btw.
but it makes my fine hair fly away & dry & without any body whatsoever.
the controversial ookisa shampoo so far is the best for my very fine aging hair.

I'll have to try this. I'm always on the search for decent sulfate free products - they always seem to leave my hair feeling unclean or rough or they don't moisturize or protect my hair well enough. I'm using VitaminShampoo right now in the mangosteen/yogurt formula and I like it (but don't like the matching conditioner nearly as well).

I alternate Root 66 with the Smooth as Silk Deep Moisture Shampoo. Good stuff! I also use Smooth as Silk Deep Moisture Conditioner and the Xtreme Protein treatment and have started using the leave in. Walmart and Target carry this brand at low prices - great buy for great products!

Is this shampoo meant to be used on color-treated hair?

I used a conditioner of theirs that smelled like grapefruit and hated it...it made my hair greasy and lifeless! I abandoned it for Yes to Tomatoes.

I love Giovanni. I am now using their leave in conditioner . It is fantastic. Between that and using Extra Virgin coconut oil , my hair looks great!
